Right On !!!!! You said it so very well !!!!
I was worried you would have to throw out all your food, to make room for me in your freezer, so I figured I had better fess up to DH...and as it turned out, he just kept talking and never aknowledged I had bought more...course, he hasn't heard how much I paid either ....

I try to give DH just basics, without mentioning the details to him. That way he can keep the illusion that all is well here at the funny farm. I figure the details would just scare him unnecessarily, and that's just not nice.

Well I finally heard back from the lady I took the horses for... She said to just do what I want with them now... That they are mine!!!

I will stop right there, before I get myself into trouble... But I am just SO MAD!!! Irate really. She was suposed to care for these horses when she "rescued them." And now they have been dumped on me...

I know what needs to be done, I'm not happy to do it, but it needs to be done none the less...

Guess I'll go love on them again and give them a nice meal.

I will definately keep these kids in my thoughts. So horible... Thank you for bringing it to our attention...

Here is alittle more information that I was just sent on FB, Please - oh please - keep these families in your prayers and thoughts.
Today, in Riverside Wahington, a 12 year old boy named Brayden Hubbard threw his sisters to safety before he was crushed to death by a piece of runaway farm equipment. He was one of my son's buddies at Okanogan Middle School and they played football together. He displayed more heroism and did more good in the last 30 seconds of his short life than most will ever accomplish in the span of a lifetime. Godspeed Brayden

You are a wonderful person for what you have done for them, and you are a wonderful person because you KNOW what you NEED to do for them. At least someone cared to save them horror and make it stop. You have done a good thing - don't think otherwise. God bless.

Give them a pat and stroke from me.

I am so sorry that this happened. It is a good reminder that we never know when something could happen to a family member or dear friend. It is a good day to tell your family how much you love them and how important they are to you. It a truly horrible thing to loose your child. I often reflect on the thought that there is no word in any language that is used to describe a parent that has lost a child. I think that it is just to heartbreaking for words.

It is more than likely far more humane to do so than to let them starve, or in this case, go without medication, and in this advanced stage of age.
These mares are like 70 year old humans, with all the aches and pains the same.

Unfortunately, the process to get TO the slaughter house can be pretty awful. When we had to have one of our horses put down, we drove it straight to the slaughter house. And actually, pigs are pretty intelligent...similar to dogs. Well, I think that they are smarter than my dogs at least.

That's my point.

These days people only base animal's intelligence based on popularity. . . But in reality our food animals are just as intelligent as our pet animals. Most of us have yet to realize that, sadly.

Because they're so highly popular and iconized as pets. In other countries it is okay, but here - They're like dogs.

Honestly I find nothing wrong with putting horses in slaughterhouses. They are certainly no better or more intelligent than cattle and pigs.

I agree I have no issues with horse meat , I've even had some while in other countries....

but I have a huge issue with the mustang round ups ending up at slaughter. So I'm kind of on the fence about it. I just wish we could handle our wild life (mustangs) better so we did not have to worry about and shut down the horse meat industry just to stop this kind of round up (greed) abuse of our wild animals.

Yeah, well, I'm pretty sure the Mustang issue is about ranchers wanting more ground beef on our plates though.

Anyone in Washington building or have chicken coops for sale? I am located in Tacoma and am looking for a safe, roomy, practical coop for my flock of 7 girls. I'm looking for something under $600.. In addition I'm looking for a run for them as well as it's not safe for them to free range (we tried that until I watch an eagle swoop down on them - they've been in lock down since!) I've checked craigslist and do not see much.. Anyone? I'm not sure if this is the right place here, if there's a better place plese let me know.
