Sorry, to me anyone West of the Mtns is considered Coasty. Actually, everyone over here pretty much calls it that way too. But it is funny, cuz you have your version of "Coasties" don't you. LOL

Oh geez, and the worst part is being someone NOT from the Seattle area. . . You'see, even they consider "West Coast" as just plain the Seattle area. I'm talking the whole sound. . . Otherwise, even the Weather channels could care less for little 'ol Forks. They even show Port Angeles, Aberdeen, and so on before us. They once showed the weather for Elwha. We're talking a tiny little reservation right outside Port Angeles, which is a town of less than 20,000.

So yes, people are very specific about regions. It's like high school groups. The cool kids, the west coast kids, and the. . . misfit rednecks deep in the woods that actually make Washington for what it is. A rainforest that lures tourism.

Different Kidlit. Jolly Green Giants are IT guys in charge of the Dutch language porthole of a major Seattle based online game company. But I am sure that the costume would fit the other kid. I heard the The Boy come home. I think he wanted to talk about his night plowing the Ledge, and the Free Fall Freeway, but the Mom was sleeping, and it's always better to let sleeping Moms sleep.

PS I have spare kitties if you need one or two.

What kind of kittens ?

Lovely ornery kittens. You could have your pick of any of the 4 boys. The 2 older ones are twins and rather large. The other 2 are rather little, and love momma snuggles. The girl has to stay cause she is in charge of everything around here.

dunno if ya missed me at all

Been a busy day! Just about to head back out and make sure all the birdies are good and have warm water...

17* out! yikes! but at least the wind stopped here. Only about 3+ inches of snow here.

Take care and stay safe in this weather!.

Sorry to hear about those who have had recent loses. Please keep in mind that most of the power crews and snow removal crews don't get the appreciation they deserve.

We are now down to 7* yes that is SEVEN DEGREES.

Okay now I'm panicking. . . We just went through a couple days of below 30 degree weather, and the boys here have terrible, I mean open-window terrible insulation in their sleeping area. . . And I have some big single combed birds in there. . .

What are the chances of frostbite? I haven't taken a good look at them today, but, gosh, I'm so worried one of my Marans or more will get frostbitten combs. . . .

I've been reading everyones posts and my heart goes out to everyone on here thats been having a heck of a time. Where I live we only got about 3 inches of snow, and our power hasnt went out. I'm not braggin cause I use to live in an area where if the wind blew the power was out!!! If I could run a power cord from my house to all of yours I would. My chickens are not enjoying their lockup but they'll get over it, they get their hot oatmeal in the morning, scrambled eggs in the afternoon and a little bit of spagetti in the evening all serving in a silver (stainless steel bowl) platter!!! Hope everyone fares well through the night.....

Lol. Well, as the 'cool kids' Seattleites, we end up running the state politically but since we are so close-knit, the rest make up the 'feel' of the state, from lakes and rivers and sounds, and rainforests and pine forests and deserts and mountain and foothills and all the rest... Oh, and there are plenty of misfit rednecks here in Seattle and through the rest of the state

so we're all one of the same- all 'kid' Washingtons.

Ibve heard rumors around my town that the wind chill is supposed to get to -25 here tonight! Right now its 8*, My poor little baby (chicken baby, not human) was somehow out after dark. When I checked on them at dusk he was with one of my fluffy girls in a nest box, and then about 45 minutes or an hour later I went back out to check (good thing it wasn't longer than that) and he was on the ground outside the coop, his poor right foot was frozen solid, icey to the touch, swollen and unable to bend or move it. I admit to panicking and some tears (I really love that little guy). I ran him in the house and got him in one of my brooders, and his foot and leg have dethawed and he does have mobility. It is dlightly discolored, but hes walkiing around and able to jump up on my arm without a problem. I think hes gonna be okay, I'm so glad I found him before he was a goner!

On a good note, I did ship some chicks to Puyallup last night and they showed up today a little after noon in great shape. I put two of the long term hot packs in there and sent seven extra chicks. The guy made out like a bandit because of the extras and the hot packs cost about $8 each. I was more concerned about their safety though.

I usually don't ship chicks this late in the year, but I had a rerunning auction on bidbird and they guy bid on them.... but everything worked out.

UPS? United Postal Service?

Sorry, it is the cold medicine talking.

but actually I don't know what UPS, other than that, means.
