So I watched th news for about 5 minutes before I left for work this morning. And saw that someone out torwards Lynnwood had a fire started by a heat lamp in their coop, that travled to their house... I wasn't able to watch the rest, but I sure hope it wasn't one of our own... And I also hope that too much damage wasn't done. Has anyone other than me heard anything about this? Such a horrible way to start out the holliday season.
Has everyone thawed out yet? I'm sitting at what should be a comfy 44*, but I am freezing, even though I'm all bundled up with the furnace running at 67*... I must be coming down with something. Whatever it is, I hope it runs its course quikly, cause I have alot of work to do. The private barn that I manage is mildly flooded from the melt off, and I have all sorts of limbs to clean up, plus I need to walk the fenceline and make sure everything is still secure. Ah storm season, and all the extra work it brings me. lol This is gonna be a long winter, once it actually starts.
So after reading about everyones losses and near losses with power outages. Ive decided to not sat up an incubator until spring. I just have this feeling that it would be better for me to wait and do my first run with an incubator in the spring. We actually lost power for 8 hours. Better than most people around the Kitsap Penninsula, but this was the first time our power has been out for longer than 20 mintues. There are still trees down everywhere, the power company is still working hard. I'm glad the weather has warmed up, I'm almost out of coffee and hot cocoa from giving it to the power crews all week. But boy they sure did appreciate the warm drinks, and hot soups my mother and I took them!
Had to help a sheriff climb out of his car on Tuesday, as it was sitting on its side in a ditch. Poor guy looked frightened to death, all pail and sickly looking. Had to sit with him for a while to make sure he was ok, until another squad car got there. The roads here were nasty up until late yesterday morning.
All in all its been a frustrating and exciting week. lol And now we all get to look back, figure out what worked and what didn't, and prepare for the next round to come our way. OH! And don't forget to laugh, smaile, and be happy. After all it is the dreaded holliday season!
Happy hollidays everybody!
