It looks like a regular 5 gal bucket...and we have one with a spigot attached already.
I think it may have been a necessity in dry areas, but not needed here !!
How many times have you used yours now ?
And how was it running ?
Sensitive ?
Reliable ?
I can' t wait to use mine but have to make sure all parts work and still saving up eggs...
I'm not sure how the bucket feeds the water tray without overflowing it. I have used the Bator non stop since Sept. It's never full but always has something in it. It is new so it's running perfectly as it should and very reliable. It's the electronic one so it pretty much runs itself. I do check the digital read regularly and at one point it couldn't get past 94* when we had that cold snap even though I kept the Tack room above 60* and I thought I got a lemon and would have to send it back. At the same time I noticed my Styrofoam bators for hatching were the same way so I moved them all up to the house and everything worked fine. Well, figured out I was overloading the circuit with Bators, heatlamps, heater (heater running full time with the cold outside) and instead of tripping the breaker everything just ran at low power. There weren't enough amps. Turns out a few days later everything in the tack room just shut off with out tripping the breaker and I found out I had burned up my outlet. All black and melted. It's outside in an outdoor box on a conduit but it freaked me out! Well, I then did my research so in case anyone needs this info a standard outlet has 10-15 amps, 220 volts and can handle 2200 watts. A standard red heat lamp is 250 watts but the heater pulled 1500 watts. And the length of the cord takes watts too. I'm not even going to say how many bators and heat lamps I had on with the heater. Too embarressing. That was really dumb. I guess I just thought the breaker would trip if I had too much on it. I got yelled at for that one. Ha, I told hubby it was his fault because he needs to get involved more. Just glad I didn't start a fire.
Our entire barn is like that, we have 2 big extension cords that run about 100 feet across the yard into the barn, and we and 2 bators, TV, computer, refridgerator and 1 heat lamp
DH is on the case though...and I have a smoke detector every 4 feet in here AND in every outbuilding coop....DH is running wire in conduit even as we wriet...FINALLY!
One reason why I am not running the sportsman incubator yet !!!
