That isn't a law as you know but the tire association trying to make more money to get you to buy 4 studded tires.
The IDIOTS tried using that sales line on me and I told them to go play their sales joke on someone else.
BigO tires in Kirkland near Totem Lake will still do it.
Otherwise if you can't find anyone that is a franchise go to an independent.
The liability is a SALES LIE!
There is no such thing.
Independent shops will do it that aren't tied to tire sales.
Costco won't even put on two regular tires they will only do four. I like maximum tread on my tires.
Even if you try to change them around the front wheel drive will eventually eat up one pair.
Or on my rear wheel drive when I have studs on there the ones on front are worn out faster. Costco and common sense doesn't work.
Why should I throw away perfectly good tires that weren't being used when the studs were on? Corporate idiots!
Yeah! I know. It is a scam to get you to buy more tires. That's why I won't do it. Even this year I was coming up against a wall with the independents. If you ask directly: Will studs on the back of my Honda help with driving in ice and snow? you will get a sheepish look.
There was a lawsuit back in ND or Montana as I recall several years ago. But if they wanted they could add a waiver to the service.
I've been meaning to buy rims, and change them myself for a few years now, and they will pay for themselves in a couple years. Just gotta get off BYC and do it.
many many years ago we used to put just studs on the front of my subaru...when they stopped letting me do this I went to just all season and have had no problem. I agree, they are just wanting to make a sale....and they see me as female a cinch to make a sale. I tell them I will send in the DH to talk with them. He can decide.
