Can you play some Christmas music -- if you like it?? This might be crazy, but do you have a special hen that is tame enough (and clean enough) you can bring inside? I have one that follows me around the yard like a dog, so I bring her inside sometimes.... who says chicken people are crazy?? lol!

I am doing OK, DH is OK and at his Mom and Dad's and he is waiting for PG&E guy to show up (only 1 on duty today) as the forward-backward meter on the grid-tie was loose, the box not lugged shut all the way in some manner it may have caused all the weird problems, but he is on the job.
We will have our holiday when he gets back.
I am fine, and higher up has informed me to tell everyone the SPPA mags (for 2010-2011) have been mailed 2 days ago "and are in the hands of the USPS"
OK...now I have to go clean coops and see what my girls and guys are up to out there.
Nice weather ! So far dry, cloudy and 46 degrees !

Merry Christmas Eve!!!!!

So far I have only bought 2 presents and some candy for the stockings! Maybe I should have given Jen a list for the mall and I could have baked her cookies!!!

Going to take some cookies to my Grandmother today. She has just recently been diagnosed with pancreatic/liver cancer and is not doing well. She always had cookies ready for any visitors at Christmas but is too sick this year. So that is why we have been busy making them for her! I'm taking a big platter so she can still hand them out! To me this is Christmas.

Well, especially if it has mixed nuts in it, and cashews ARGH!!!!

When I was a single woman, my friends and I used to call it "Monkey Mix" because it was like a monkey on our back! Still make it every year, (there's some ready and waiting to take to BIL's home this afternoon.) Love that stuff and ONLY make it for the holidays since it's so addicting!​

I am outside of Spokane. Between a lake and some wheat fields. I joined this forum to learn more about chickens. Dolce (one of the girls) has a condition called bumblefoot come to find out. I am sure she is going to love having that treated. Hope it works. It is disgusting!

We used to always make Chex mix when I was a girl scout

It was like tradition for our troop, so when I think of Chex mix, I think of girl scouts

Yuck, bumblefoot is a drag to treat, too, keeping the hen in a cage off the dirt, keep all her poops cleaned out, keep her foot wrapped and do a clean dressing every day and at least every other day or it can only worsen the infection. After about 2 weeks she should be fine. Try getting lower perches or more straw/shavings on the floor so they do not injure their feet when they jump down. I had my perches way too high and had several cases of bumblefoot before I could get the perches all lowered. It was a lot of work to re-do all the coops, but had to be done.
Bumble foot is a bummer for you and the bird.

Anyone have wind? Man,its icky out here! The wind has been gusting all morning and last night too. Branches all over. I am cold to the bone.
I got some presents for a friend and her family and now my son is dressing up as Santa to deliver in an hour or so. Cant wait to see the kids faces. Will they cry or what? ages 1 and 3/4 so it will be fun. I love Christmas and kids when they are exicited. Hope everyone has a nice Christmas Eve!!
