There's no such thing as too green.

We DO have nice summers over here in West. WA as a general rule...

the lack of nasty spiders/rattlers is def a bonus in my book. and no hanta on this side either. *shudder* that's my deepest fear. ever.

BUT .. it's TOOO GREEEN! lol!!

I Love me some brown mountains. heehee...
We had some friends who drove thru Wenatchee for the first time to visit my parents in The Valley, they described that drive from Wenatchee to Pateros as Orchard Hell.

I personally love it--especially in the summer when you drive by the orchards and it's early evening, the sun is setting all golden--you can hear the sprinklers and feel the cool air.. can you hear the crickets singin'?
smile.png
*sigh*

or hey EW bug people--is it crickets or grasshoppers? I always said grasshoppers, but it doesn't sound so poetic as crickets..

I'm thinking the apple orchards must be awfully pretty when they bloom in the spring. When is the best time to go see them?

We have both. The grasshoppers come through like a plague in late summer, eating anything & everything. The ducks LOVE them. The crickets chirp all night long.

Whew. No more geese.

Culled our last Sebastopol today with a brand new, very easy, and VERY quick method, then finally got a hang of skinning and gutting it with one fell swoop. (the hide came off in one piece, the insides all came out in one chunk. Very nice.

Actually tried some goose today, but it tasted, umm, raw. It was weird. I'm going to freeze the rest, then cook it another way.

Otherwise, today's been very cold still, forecast says it should snow next week but rain this week. I'm SOOO proud though, my Buff Ameraucana cockerel has been "banished" to live in the bachelor's coop for practically months now, but just this morning, without any more bully-cockerels left, he actually came out, spent the entire day out, then slept up on the perches with the rest of the boys! No fights, no bullying, nadda! I'm SO happy for him!

- Previously he was stuck in the coop 24/7 because if he put a foot out there, there would be someone just out the door to chase him down, tear his feathers out, and scare the poo out of him.

So it's the crickets in the evening I like that sound.

Also - is it clear over there this evening? Could you or teresa grab an eyeful of stars for me?

I was out closing up coops last night and the stars were very pretty here but it's hard to see a lot of them. Orion is large n bright in the sky!

Yup, me too. Since we live near a lake, a creek and a pond, we also have lots of frogs, too.

And the occasional owl. I don't like the coyotes yapping and howling though. :\\

LOTS of stars...especially when it's close to zero degrees out!
