Hi Washingtonians!

I am looking for someone who has some fertile chicken eggs available in the Everett/Lake Stevens/Snohomish area. My silkie went broody and is dead set on hatching some chicks! I figured I would let her try it out.

Any breed, even mixed breeds are wanted. At this point I will take anything for her.

Yup. Some times you get a bunch or all that hatch out a day or two early.
And I have had some that peeped like yours is, on day 18 and drove me nuts wondering where the peeps were coming from...!

When did the day 18 peeps end up hatching?

I think they were a day or two early, and as I recall, it was 1 that started peeps on day 18, then on day 19 pipped and all the others followed suit and by day 20 all were hatched.
I think it was the Javas...yes I am sure it was, I remember asking if anyone else had noticed that as if it may be a trait of heritage breeds or what ?
My incubator and thermometers are all calibrated...

I wanted to raise my kids with some of the same experiences I had and one being a little hobby farm. I know within the city that having a mini farm is impossible and I was joking around with a friend of mine about it and he thought that it was legal to have a few chickens. Did some research and couldn't find anyhting saying I couldn't then I founfd the database on this site that said you could. Needless to say I was a little excited. Been wanting to get a few chickens now for quite a while after hearing that. Now of course I am head long into it but thought I better call the Animal Control officer before I order and he says unless I am going to license them and have them on a lease then they would be considered utlity animals and are not allowed within the city limits. I never really thought of lease training a Rhode Island Red before I thought to myself and then of course my mouth opens out and says well the dog poo in the lawn fertilizes it but he is still just a pet.

Of course that bummed me and the family out. I guess I better sell the house and move back to the country. Maybe I should have broken this into two seperate posts. Until I figure out what is going on then I will be here learning as much as I can. Does anyone here live with-in the Oak Harbor City limits? Any help is appreciated.

One of the neat things I have noticed lately, is those that do live in tight communities, can raise ducks !
Oh yes, most breeds lay as much or more than a chicken, big (very big!) pretty blue, golden or brown eggs, and they do not crow, nor cluck.
They are alot different in raising than chickens...so study that ! But the rewards are there !!

the picasso exhibit was interesting. i think he was a bit of a perv. It was nice to see his private collection but there are only a few i would ever want to own and be happy having it on my wall.

After that we headed home and when to the Snoqualmie Casino. Its nice there, parents gave me and my bf $20 each and i came out a $56-20= $36 ahead. well that is what i came home with i made more but some machines went cold on me to i finished up my visit at the "Spanish 21" card table where a old guy with many chips was playing 2 hands by himself and he helped me learn. i only bought in with $5 and was able to stay there for 10 minutes gaining 5 or constantly pushing.

It was fun. i admit gambling is a little addicting but it was fun and i enjoyed myself there more than at the museum. then again there are only so many funky nude or sexual paintings i can look at in 3 hours.....

I checked on Jersey and he seems to be doing alright, not worse, possibly better? i do not think he has gained weight yet. he still has green poo but it seemed firmer and not runny.

Course mom did well at the casino too. we worked slots together, it was fun mother and daughter bonding time, course she made out with a bit more money than me.

Dad and the boyfriend washed out. dad was amazed i did so well. too bad i only made enough for an oil change tomorrow or i could of paid the vet bill for the rooster.... i was hoping for textbook or some college spare $. but i suppose for a beginner i did well.

I just love the sound of a two year old laughing histerically, from seeing a dog go nuts over a lazer pointer!!!
