I dunno'?
Made me almost drive to Or. to get some.
I know that alot of people have quail around here and I have never heard of such a thing?
I was under the asumption that eggs no matter what color or speices was all the same?
Mike

Confused!

I don't think we believe this one about he quail eggs, it makes them sound more like the fountain of youth than just eggs. Our reasoning is if it sounds too good to be true... well it's probably a big fat lie. but if it's true (doubtful) we'll have to start keeping quail.

I really like the sounds of Bobwhites though!
Good call anyway, I think your right.
Wishfull thinking on my part. Just trying to get all my pens refilled with something.
I quess quail will have to wait.
That's even if he had some mixed fertile going.
Mike

NICE FIND!
WOW!, amazing what we can pull together with alittle research.
Thanks.
I still will be waiting for some BOBWHITES if anyone knows?

FDA nutritional facts state that chicken eggs and quail eggs are nutritionally the same.
Quail eggs do have 29% yoke to egg ratio. chicken eggs is 22% ratio
I've heard they supposedly have no bad cholesterol but again egg studies show same for chicken vs quail if fed the same foods.
Kids do better if eating 2 eggs a day..... I'd say thats just that kids do better if they get more protein then the modern diet is. I know with my nephew if he was cranky we would make him eat something like yogurt, cheese, or drink milk. He would then be the happy kid we normally had.

btw I raise quails and sell eggs and birds. The eggs taste the same but are "creamier" due to the extra yoke.
and I've not noticed any great health etc from eating the eggs

for first time quail owner I highly suggest Japanese quails... otherwise known as Coturnix.
Bob Whites are like junk yard dogs and Coturnix are like lab's....
Coturnix are easy keepers if you want info about getting some or the setup just let me know. 1 thing tho is you can NOT free range quails.

I think they would FR just fine. They just wouldn't know where thier range stopped and would probably not come back to the coop. I would actually like to set some free. Of course something (breed wise) that is already out there. We do have one that comes around once in a while. It sets on the fence in the front yard and talks to me. Yes I am fluent in quail. I would also really like to turn some pheasant loose and have been told that there is a state hatchery near that will give ya eggs to hatch and set free. Anybody know about such a thing?
Well I really should be getting ready to do the funky chicken for Chickeylady. But since it's only 30* out and the shed lights don't come on well in the cold and I don't want to fire up the forge just to try to warm them up. I think I will just stay right here by the wood stove where it is nice and warm.

I guesss with all the "goodness" of quail eggs, I need to go and find some of the wild groups that live around me, and find their nests and steal their eggs. I only feed all these little monsters all winter long.
