In regards to broken feathers, etc. Pull them now. Today. Perhaps some will be finished. No bird is ever perfect. For instance, no way to prevent every single broken foot feather in silkies, no matter what you do. I won't have my best birds at Monroe, as I pulled broken foot feathers to prepare for the National in Stevenson and they won't be back in yet, but I'm still going to be showing. I also am not sure if I'll bring any waterfowl- depends on how romantic they are feeling the weeks up to the show. If they are breeding, then my best stay home, although perhaps I'll bring an alternate.

When the last time Cheryl was having car trouble I let her know we had 2 cars we weren't using. We still haven't put them up for sale (it takes a lot of energy selling cars to a private party). But, it also allowed us to pick up the crates for hallerlake & rainwolf. Anyway, we keep saying that we're going to sell them but more entertaining things happen (can you tell we're stalling listing them for sale)

Not telling you to be mean but if we don't stand up for ourselves the idiots will be trying to control everything including the people in King County whom have no restrictions and it will only get worse.

Spokane is fighting to have a chicken ordinance, right now. I love one lady's comment...She says how her Yellow lab creates more "wate" then her chickens do.

Okra? Haha, my mom HATES that stuff. Last we looked through our seed catalog, I asked her about it. I believe she said it was like rhubarb or a bad cucumber or something.


Tapioca flour is quite nice. It doesn't do too well on its own, except when aided by Xantham gum and lots of eggs, but otherwise it has almost no flavor.

Almond flour offers quite a texture and a nice nutty taste. Not the disgusting bitter taste Walnuts offer, but a more, well, almond-y taste. If diluted down with other flours, you can get rid of it. It's great if you want breads, pancakes, waffles, cakes, etc with a little more flavor.

CR I just told DH that you called chicken applesauce "Cackle Spackle" and he is just hysterical!!
We are going to Walmart and then M&Ds to get the folding table to give to WA 4-HPoultryMom...who is no doubt on her way to Cowgirlgrace's for chickies..it is a transport day!
