A bit of bright sunshine through otherwise black skies .... oh, it's gone

From Olympia: snow alternating with blue sky... Less than an inch here, but stuck in house with 9 dogs... and WHAT dogs.

Yes, I was VERY excited when I got my first eggs. My h ouse had just burned down and I was living in a trailer (this was last year) and had to have a friend incubate them at their house, but it was something to distract me from the "issues" of having your house burn down with umpteen dogs and you living onthe property... What did you get?

I have one of those little styrofoam incubaters and I don't think it is working vey well.... rats. oh well, with Chickielady doing such a fantastic job of hatching my eggs - who cares! She rocks!

PS: Thanks for the advice on the generator, that can NEVER be said enough...

That's exciting! Let me say I'm grateful to all of you for hatching eggs so that I can live vicariously through you without the worry.

So what kind of eggs did you buy and where did you buy them from?

I'm starting with some less expensive(but nice) cuckoo marans eggs, before I get real crazy with other breeds. I've been talking to daze333 for some time and just decided to plunge in with both feet! So, hopefully the eggs will be here tomorrow after making the short trip from Port Angeles. I'm very excited!

Oh and the snow is creepin up on 8 inches here on the hill! Had to use the 4WD to get out of the driveway!
Oh and I almost forgot... MY DH BROUGHT HOME CHICKEN MAGAZINES!!! He's crossed over and become my own personal enabler!

That's hilarious!

You should see my house... chicken and dog magazines EVERYWHERE!

Hope Illia has a safe drive. my parents went over stevens pass this morning to head to the funeral and they said the weather is crazy.... i know they got 16 inches in 24 hours....

I am going crazy not being able to get those chickens.... will the planets align for me? otherwise i will commit part of my spring break heading to seattle.... because that monroe show was during my spring break i wanted to take one of my nice roosters... but he disappeared a few days ago. my parents saw him.... but when i came home last weekend i couldn't find him and finally found a light trail of feathers heading off into the orchard.... i think he became coyote chow. luckily i have not noticed any others missing. but he would of been the last one i would of thought became a snack. atleast the coyote(s) only took one on their route past the coop...

you know what is an interesting cross? seeing a cross between my EE roo and speckled sussex hen. the chicks are 17 weeks old and at least 4 are roosters and are obviously these crosses... its really cool patterning. their chest is the only part that is sussex, its speckled. but their legs are white (not green or yellow but white)

Its snowing here and says 4 inches on the way and on friday the high is supposed to be 12F......

If You have an LG (Little Giant) I also have one. I got rather frustrated until I learned better how to use it. I bought mine used so got no instructions. Now I know there are people that say they are junk and there are also others that say they are great. They really don't take a rocket scientist like me (

) to run them. There only 2 things that can go bad in the still air. The wafer, easy to replace or the heat element also easy to replace. If you have a still air and would like to put a fan (highly recommended) I have a couple of fans that will work great. I did it to mine. I am sure that CL will have better results because she has better equipment and tons of experience. But if ya wanna fix yers just so ya can have the fun of hatching a few. I would be willing to try to help ya set it up. I don't claim to be an expert on these but have learned a lot the hard way with mine.

WOW you must really be up on the hill somewhere. We only have about 2" and aren't that far away. But you are more than welcome to keep it.

Considering it usually never sticks around that long, it's not so bad. I feel for the people who have multiple feet for weeks on end. Don't think I'd like that at all!
