sounds like something he ate, but I would give him some chick starter just to be sure in case he has some Cocci going on, get medicated start n grow & give to him for a few days.

I'm thinking you're right, and I'm thinking it is all that molasses in the flock block! I separated her out, her poops thickened overnight and now look normal, no longer like tarry molasses. (She did not have access to the flock block). She's no longer thirsty, so after she laid an egg, I put her back in with the other hens and she ran straight for the flock block! I don't think I will be buying another when that one is gone. It's like Chicken chocolate. They are hardly touching their layer pellets! I am putting a little bleach in the water just to play it safe.

Thanks for the reply, and thanks for the bleach post!

They love molasses and it will give them diareah.
It is advised while worming with Wazine, to give a little molasses in the water to help 'spur things along'.
But I wouldn't worry about it being anything bad, just a chookie who likes their sweets

That makes sense. Thank you.

I have three incubators, two for incubating and one for hatching, that way I don't have to wait three weeks to set more eggs, and I can have as many staggered hatches as I want.

Make sure you follow the recipe for the bleach in the water..and keep the solution marked and seperate from your kids, for example, then just 1 T for well birds per gallon, 2 T in a gallon of water for sick birds.

Too bad the shuttle is not door to door.
BUT it is an excuse to get one of those snow throwing toys that spit the snow like a lawnmower. Them little red ones.

We got a big, shiny red one about 8 years ago, and every 10 feet it spits out all the bolts holding the handle on and the blades in. It shakes so bad the nuts fall off, can't find cotter pin bolts the right size, so we tried destroying the threads on the screws where the nuts are supposed to sit, hoping they can't work their way back out. It works better than the nuts, but you can still hear DH screaming out all sorts of applesauce when he uses the dang thing!

It works well on dry, pwdery snow, but not deep, wet snow.

OK, note to self.
Don't buy the red one.

But luckily I only have a short driveway and once we make it to the road, it is ploughed and maybe if everyone here remembers to pay our taxes, it is sanded.
