Gah, I need to get to Costco too. I hate going when it's pouring. I do like hunkering down in the house during the winter. However, we did buy a new car yesterday! A 1994 Volvo wagon, so now my stuff won't get wet in the back of the truck.

My ducks can also travel in luxury!

Oh, Nyrial, I would so be helping you if I could come. We'd have fun setting everything up. I'd

Anyone want a muscovy drake?

Over the weekend, we bought a cubic yard of 5/8's Lummin, not only does it look great, it doesn't get slick even when wet! The ducks like it, it cleans easily with a bit of hosing down and it looks nice.

Nyrial, I need to think about a Friday Costco run. I know we're hooking up anyway, but that might be too much on my plate. Do you have other ducks? I wouldn't want the poor drake to be lonely.

TrystInn, I'm wishing I had gone with that instead of the pea gravel. The pea gravel looks good, doesn't get slick and is easy to wash down, but I can't wheelbarrow over it

Anyone near Spanaway that can “board” a pair of geese for me until Thanksgiving weekend? We’d be going home up I-5 (to I think 512) to I-90 on the way home…

I’d be willing to give you $20 to pay for their feed until then OR I’d be willing to work out a trade next spring for goslings or eggs…OR anything on my sales list you’re interested in (see my website)

The person selling them needs to get rid of them ASAP because she cannot afford to feed them any longer and will not keep them for another month without charging me another $100 for feed. (Not sure what they’re feeding this pair but it’s obviously a lot more than what I feed mine! LOL) She said any of her geese not sold by this weekend will be going to a sale?

Anyway—let me know…I offered to send her a deposit if that would help but I wanted to see if I can find a fellow BYC’er to help me out, first!

If you have some 1"x6" siding sitting around or something like that when it's time to clean your coop you could place those down where you need to go and remove them when done. If you don't have any watch Craigs eventually you be able to get some for free.

For a window in our coup we used the glass from a 16" x 20" picture frame. The puppies had chewed the corners of the frame. So it wasn't really usable for a picture frame. My DH made a frame for the glass and made the whole thing easily removable. The hens seem to really like the extra light in the coup. And best of all it was free and recycled.

I just found this thread, what fun! I admit to not reading the whole thing

just the first few and the last few. I'm in Olympia, been here since 1995. I grew up in the Snohomish area, migrated to Alaska for a few years and ended up here.

We have 9-acres and raise our own beef and pork. We talked about chickens for the last 3-4 years so last spring I bought 6 hens and DH built a coop--build it and they will come is more like bring it home and he will build--Anyhow I'm up to 25+ various LF and with byc to feed my addiction (I can admit it) I'll probably double that by next year if I can find the time/money to put up some breeding pens so I can do some projects. I never would have belived I'd enjoy chickens so much before I got them.
