Nice to see all the people finding there way to the Washington thread.
I live with a Snohomish address but I'm right up the hill from the Monroe fair ground.
Hope to meet alot of you at the spring poultry show at Evergreen fair in the middle of March!

It's nice not to feel panicked every time I hear the dogs make a fuss at night! Still running out there every time though.

I put some little red flashing solar LED's around the new coop. They were on the Omlet cube until last night, and I had never noticed animal tracks right up next to the coop while the lights were blinking.

That's interesting. So it doesn't look like anything had approached the Omlet cube while you had the red flashing LED's on it? You think they were pretty effectively acting as a deterrent? I was considering those for our little fountain in the front yard as the installed underwater lamp keeps getting pulled out by some critter.

Thought maybe the flashing LED would keep it from messing around in the water.

Glad your birdies are safe in their new cabin!

Yeah - I bought them last fall after a bear stripped the branches off my Green Gage plums. I read a lot of reviews before ordering them, and most people have had success with them. Looks like most folks use them for keeping deer out of orchards. They recommend moving them around a bit, with the tractor that is easy. I now have them hanging by S-hooks from the new chicken run so I can move them easily. For orchards they recommend making a post stand that you can move around, put the blinky things on all 4 sides. They should be hung at whatever height the eyes of animal you want to scare away are. I hang mine at about 18 inches because I can't decide between raccoon or bear. I'm going to get more for my orchard this spring and I will make a couple of the stands that I can move each day.

Our first pure bred springer, my baby, was Sadie. We called her Sadie Bug. We lost her last fall after 13 faithful years. Whenever I was outside, she was always right on my heels askin, "What can I do for you Mom?" Needless to say, I love the name Sadie.

Our puppy's name is Sadie, a springer!

It's a good name.

So I heard Sadie is feeling better the past few days. Is she still continuing to improve?

They do make a device that has little red "eyes" that is supposed to deter critters. I think it is called nite eyes or something very similar. I know I have seen them for sale on several web sites.

That's what mine are ... Farmtek had them on special once when I was checking out my order. I think I paid $7 each. They are solar powered, and it does not take much light to keep the thing blinking for days! only works at night though, which is a problem for me as the bears don't give a hoot what time it is when they attack my orchard. I'm hoping that between 2 big dogs roaming the property in the daytime and the blinky thing at night, I ay get some of my fruit this year. I'm really upset they found my blueberries. Had those for seven years, and they did not bother them until last summer, where the apples they go for every time.

We need to schedule the next secret cult meeting.....
I can meet up on Wed/Thurs/Fri in march.

Dunno if anyone has ever been to Beth's cafe but its open 24/7... Its a great grease joint but heck any place that can serve a 12 egg omelet, everything in it, served on a pizza platter of hash browns can't be all bad

I've been going there since knee high and I'm still alive

I think it will be too small of a place for us all to fit. I thought we were going to try for a weekend for Ogress to join. Maybe we can try it early enough that you could make it before work.
