When I was a kid, I'd jump at any chance to stay away from home! I had a feeling this would happen, so I did not drag out the air bed, extra blankets and sheets for all that extra laundry. DD has a double bed, so I told her to share it. We just washed everything just before they got here.
Now DD is upset as she had the entire weekend planned out!

I was a mean mom. Maybe that is why both kids went away, and have never offered to come home and live with me again.

I am blessed with children that are self supporting contributing members of society, but since that was my goal when I chose to have kids it is a good outcome.

If I remember right I was always looking for away to spend the night at friends homes too. It was a very smart move not hauling everything out. Maybe in the morning DD can see if her friend can come back for the day. That might be easier for her friend.

Well swing by my place on the way home, and thaw out the water for my girls. I don't do mornings, because I have the late shift here.

I think part of the reason why she wanted to go is bcause I made them mop the floors after they came running through the house with their snowboots on (we have 16" here), and they had just been in the chicken coop so there was chicken poop and pine shavings stuck in the puddles from their boots, and then I had them put all their dishes in the dishwasher after dinner, and when I went to check on them, they tossed their clothes all down the hallway and the bathroom floor when they put on their PJ's, so I flipped on the lights and told them to get out of bed and pick up the mess! Guess I'm a mean mommy - I got "But my mother just tells my sister and I to make a path to the bed so she doesn't have to step on things when she sings us our lullabies."

I haven't sung a lullabye since DD could sit up! I think I must be a shrew in her friends eye!
