Okay, my brain is still a bit foggy but is Just bugged and the meanie from Seattle relatives? By meanie...I am referring to the young lady who keeps sending us snow thoughts and refers to herself as Meanie. Sisters maybe? I am only figuring this out....sorry I am a bit slow.

I am sorry if my hillbilly is showing.

Nope eenie as it turns out lives in the neighborhood sometimes. Her dad has a house that is directly due east of my house by just 2 houses and a street. I first met eenie while playing games here on the forum the best part of 2 years ago. Then we were both in a fabric swap from the Hobbies section, and I was paired up with her. I knew that she came to Washington to visit family, and had been in the State during Christmas time. I also think that I was aware she knew where Enumclaw was, but until she brought me brownies I didn't know that she was here in Enumclaw, let alone here in the neighborhood.

So now she is mine, and I am going to keep her. She is one of the nicest kids I have ever met. But then I do like teenagers.

I forgot to add that most of the time she lives in Missouri, with her mom.

This explains the MO part !!!

Mine drank from a huge one that came with my dog kennel. It drips a lot more than the nipple feeders. They were about 2 weeks old when I started them. To this day, they prefer the big bunny/puppy waterer to any other type. They did not need any training because they peck at anything shiny.

Oh yeah... I forgot about them pecking shiny objects. Now, when you say nipple do you mean like what is on a bunny water bottle? After 6 kids, I envision something rubber. But that's not right is it?

I have bought both of these. The stainless-steel one is a 3 piece setup, if it is upside down it will come apart. I use the stainless-steel in in pvp pipe I use the other in a 5 gallon bucket. I will be trying the push ins in pvp next time I need to set one up.

A meat spot, like blood spots, are little bits of flesh the hen lost while dropping her eggs. It is nothing to worry of, really. It happens, and eating it will not harm you.

A big misconception a lot of people have is that getting straight run chicks is in danger of having an unwanted rooster which would be bad. . . . Honestly, your chances with a feedstore aren't that far behind, as sexing is never a 100% deal except with sex-links, and noone ever vent sexes bantams like Silkies, but anyway, back to the point. . . . If you DO get a rooster or two or three, there is no worry, as it will not crow or show any "rooster" behaviors until AFTER we helpful people at BYC can sex it for you.

Did you see a short green animal with head like a praying mantis leave the coop just before you found the egg???
He is about 3 feet tall.
I hear he sucks the guts out of living eggs!!

It works great, I have taken to using the bottles in my brooder. I saw someones ad for "special chicken water bottles", and all I could see was a rabbit water bottle. The chicks figure it out very fast too.

Its a blood spot... something scared your hen. If you get a lot of these you will need to check and make sure a coon/cat or something is not harassing em at night.

Thanks so much for the link. So what do you think the ratio for nipples to birds would be?

Could it have too much calcium?? My duckie laid a very soft egg almost like a turtle's eggs ahen she started laying. Got 2 of those and...no more since. I think it is probably a fluke thing.
