This is Dusty. She's my Chow /german sheppard mix, 11 years old, and a fat old lady. But she's my 1st baby and I love her dearly. She gets fed 2 small meals a day, minimal / no table scraps "unless my dh sneaks it to her."

Love her white whiskers! So sweet!

When she was a pup she was solid black, except for her chest, and very tips of her two front toes. She has whitened up quite a bit over the past 5 years.

Ooh ya, definately a cuter Tudy picture than the BYC version.

There may be quite a wait to get him out here for the BYC contest; he has something like 9,996 likes on FB! That might be too many people touching him! Definately cuter than the BYC chick!

Sorry to burst everyones bubble but the guy has a cute face and thats about it. IMHO. Needs some upper body workouts if the shirt off pic is him and some abbs. I'm not usually a critical person but you guys are ogling way too much. Face, ya. Body, no. But have to agree, definately cuter than the BYC Tudy.

Dusty is adorable. I don't feed my crew very many scraps either. I have found that anything but the dog kibbles tends to give the dogs the runs.

My DH is a big push over when it comes to begging dogs. The dogs know not to beg from me, but they sit there staring at DH while he is eating. It is his fault that the dogs beg like that.

I am going to have to check and see if I can find a picture of Berber. She was all black, and was very hard to photograph.

I have never had an overweight pet until one of the Yorkie pups. Chipper looks like he is continuing to gain weight. The last time I weighed him he was 12lbs. I have always been able to free feed all of the dogs, but now I am beginning to think that I may have to change the way I feed all of the dogs. I hate not having food available all the time for the big dog. He is starting to loose weight, and I worry that he won't have any reserves if he were to get sick. But then he could be well with in a normal phase because of how old he is. Also Jax, and Snickers need to be able to eat anytime. They are both on the thin side. I guess I just need to figure out a plan to feed everyone, so that they all maintain a healthy weight.

Whew! (90 minutes of reading to catch up!

Broody - congratulations to your daughter on the piano for a job well done! My daughter is flakey about her harp practice. DH is on her case right now about it. I need to get a video camera.

RFF and everyone else who is posting pictures of their beautiful birds and cute chicks - STOP IT!!! Every time I see one, my brain goes into automatic-chicken math mode, as the contents of my garden sheds, coops, and greenhouse get mentally shifted around as I free up more space for some more birds! The folks at Omlet just called me about a cube coop I ordered in September that just arrived, asking if I was still interested. Since I just built the cabin coop (which still has room for a few more birds in it), I should have said "No". Instead I was thinking of all those pretty birds and thought "Ooh, I can get 8 more!" and I looked up how much room was on my credit card, saw it would fit, and it is on a Greyhound now, being drop shipped to Seattle. CL - I think I may have to buy some of those Ameraucauna chicks that you mentioned in your post.

Oooohhhh! I didn't see the picture without the shirt. I am going to have to check that out. The guy is a politician so maybe he spend to much time sitting around and just talking.

Just wait....it gets even worse....I've got a 16'x8' coop and another 6 x 4' and three waterfowl pens and I'm still trying to get someone to build me four more bantam coops, a large tractor and I'm saving up for wire cages to mount on the wall of the coop. I mean, there's so much wasted, but potential usable space there!

I found out that those wooden shipping crates on Craig's List weigh about 474 pounds. Yikes. Apparently you can take them apart, though, to move them as they are nailed together. I guess then you put it where you want and nail it back together.
That is a double door on the end.

Well, I spent the afternoon outside pruning the 2 old apple trees in the front yard. Finally got my winter pruning done. I'm sore and all scratched up, but it was a nice day. Just warm enough to stay out in just a tee shirt.
I went into the back yard to pick up the last of the debris from the butterfly bushes and found several trying to grow new leaves. So I cut another dozen starts and brought them in.

Rustler,
I was doubtful about these growing roots, but you never know, if cut branches will grow after laying on the ground for weeks, anything's possible.

About appendicitis- I had 8 attacks in 3 years, about 15 years ago. Classic symptoms, but couldn't get any dr to pay attention to me. Kept giving me maalox and sending me home.

Finally went off insurance and got my old dr to listen. He thought it was an umbillical hernia and wanted to repair and do exploratory. I made the surgeon a deal. He could repair the hernia, but only if he took out the appendic. Turned out I was right.
I had the exact classic symptoms of appedicitis. In addition several hours after an attack started I would be in so much pain I could only lie on the floor and hope I'd die soon. Also without getting too graphic, everything that came out of me was NEON yellow.

Sorry for those of you who have lost dogs to bloat. My brother lost his huge blond dog to bloat many years ago.

Congrats to your DD broodytood.

In my house we have a 4 foot rule. The dogs are not to be within 4 feet of us. They can be at 4'6" away laying down and being good, but no closer. I also discourage direct eye contact with the dogs while we are eating. I have trained my husband to wait until he is completely finished with his meal, before giving them any scraps. I do give my dogs the raw scraps from trimming beef roasts, but they have to work for it.
I have to stay on top of Dusty's training, she used to lose her head when she was younger, and forget everything she had learned when she got excited. I can always tell when I have let her training slip, as she will challenge me, not listen, will chalenge new visitors, and is just a pain to deal with. But when I work with her every day she is as sweet as can be, and very smart. Terrified of brooms and the vacume... Makes cleaning especially fun. lol
