I miss you TTTTTT and TTT!!!

1. Yes, it can happen any time, for any reason, sometimes for no known reason at all.

2. Feed AFTER excercise, and after the dog has had time to cool down. Don't ever let the dog tank up on a bunch of water, especially right after heavy excercise.

I just stopped by and have not read all the posts, I will try and get thru them. but wanted to add that some breeds or types of dogs are more prone to bloat and torsion than others. Large deep chested breeds are more prone than most. Feeding your dog 2 or 3 times a day instead of once does a LOT to prevent bloat/torsion. a single large meal can cause bloat. adding water to the dry kibble can help a little also. Some people believe that feeding a large breed in a raised dish will help prevent bloat, I have no experience with that so research might prove true or not. No heavy exorcise after a big meal.
In some breeds that are very prone to bloat or in a dog that has bloated previously tacking the stomach to the abdominal wall can prevent future torsions from occurring.
I raise and show dogs, have had quite a few breeds that are prone to bloat. I have been lucky and avoided it, feeding on a regular schedule at least 2 x a day etc etc.

That's awesome. So glad you're going to be able to get those crates. I can hardly wait to see how your double coop turns out!

Congrats! I'll let you know how long it takes once I get mine since I just ordered last Friday. Finally broke the news to DH that I'd ordered mine as he and his buddy were having a beer after a long day coop building. He was tired enough that I'm not sure it actually registered though.!

OK so to those who have requested bells from me. Is there anybody with any past US NAVY connection. Like a DW/DW or other family member? If so please let me know with a PM! I have something a little special at least in my opinion.

Nice coop! What areyou going to do to the ground in the run? When I could no longer move my chicken tractor due to the weather, I piled woodchip about 6" deep and set the run on top of that. I thought it would keep clean, but the darn hens scratch everything up so much, that it did not take long for it to become a muddy mess. Even though the run was covered, enough water ran through with the squalls that come through up here that it was just days before everything was mud. Now the new covered run is where my kids had their old play-set. It is also on about 5" of woodchip, but under the woodchip is a water permeable weed barrier, and even with all their digging and scratching, the hens so far have not managed to tear through it. We did woodchip only so we would not need to go out and buy anything. When this gets nasty (and I have piles of wood chip to use), I will replace it with sand - I'm a bit worried about getting mites in the woodchip.
