I was just thinking last night, I MISS MY CHICKENS!.

It feels like I never get to see them anymore. Maybe for a couple of minutes in the morning, and I check on them when I lock them down for the night, but it's already dark when I get home. I think I hate winter more now than ever before.

Hope spring comes fast!

Do you like the pea gravel? I have sand, and it seems to work Ok. I don't have muddy, standing water in their run, but it's always damp lately. My run is covered too. I keep thinking that I am going to go out there one day and have ducks instead of chickens!

At first I was concerned that they might eat the gravel... but after a few tries, they decided it wasn't too tasty. So far I like it, but cleaning is a chore. I think I am going to put sand on top for better cleaning. (I can scoop the poo better with sand I think, like kitty litter). My run is partially covered (meaning keeping out the rain, as the rest of the cover is hardware cloth) but am thinking of completely covering it for the winter.

justbugged, you teased with your twi! All we got was cake and bread! I scrolled down looking for juicy bits but instead ended up being really hungry

weavegarden, I take care of two dogs, a bull mastiff and a pom. The mastiff loves to run around in the rain and occasionally roll around in the mud. He knows he can't come in the house until he's been rubbed down and had his feet cleaned, but every time you'd think was the first. He just stands there looking at me all pathetically. The pom on the other hand, runs straight to the towel and rolls in it. Hrumph.

Kim, dunno if I said it yet, but I'll be coming in February.

On paint: I use to work at a the local paint store. They give the paint mistints away for free. Most small places do!

And yes, this thread has become very busy lately! I use to keep the default 20 or 25 posts per page, but upped it to 100. For me we are on page 51 I think.

Good Morning everyone.

Bull Mastiff?

I would love to have a bull mastiff. I met one at a grocery store in Bellingham. That dog was as big as a house! My wife wants a dog, but I doubt she would go for a dog that big! Lol.

Yes this has been a LONG week !! I have a cold and feel like crap. one more to go !!

Kim
thats one nice thing about working nights. ya don't come home in the dark! I got home at 10:00am went out and collected eggs ( 4 so far) now its nap time. I'll get up around 3:00pm and go let the flock out. and collect more eggs. my last girl (my BR) lays between 4 & 5 pm .I don't think I could work a 8:00am to 5:00pm job

At least it's just one more day, and then two days next week. To be honest, I don't know if I can even deal with one more day. One of my kids might have to be "sick" so I can "work at home" tomorrow.

Taking next Wednesday as a vacation day to bake and run around gathering food of all kinds for Thursday. Anyone wanna do a Costco trip/lunch/whatever?

Is it a sad sad thing that I consider a Costco trip without my children an afternoon packed with Awesome?

I'm with you! I had to wait at the pharmacy the other day. They were so apologetic and nice about it. I just said " It's all good, no kids today." Went and bought a cup of coffee and a book and had a lovely 1/2 hour with no he said, she said, What can I Have to Eat! It was heaven.

I sure wish I still lived up there, well maybe not, but it would be fun to do Costco with someone that doesn't roll their eyes everytime I mention chickens. Hope your week gets better!
