That's what I thought, but these all floated like they were viable, yet when I cracked em open they were stinky yolks

I thought floating meant old eggs.

Hey, Heather, do you think there is ANY WAY I can get in on this? I would love to. The DH says he cannot look into those faces and then butcher them....good grief.....I would come and help. Actually, I would love to. I could probably come up with an area for the chickens to grow....I would need to do some safety checks and fixing....but I actually have a potential area. Let me know if you think she would do.

I am hoping that by April it will be thawed out enough for me to get a few loads of sand...I need probably 7,000lbs this time. Too bad I'm pregnant though...probably can't be of much help. I am sure that my DH will need a few beers or something! LOL

Heather, I think he will be deserving more than just a few beers...You may want to think foot rub, fancy dinners, margarita...back massage and soap down in the shower....whatever it takes to keep him happy to get all that sand spread out. For your driveway though get some good gravel. We always have Lee and Dukes bring us our dirt, gravel, and sand. They always seem to do a good job...unfortunately the expense is always the truck, not the gravel/sand necessarily. You might as well buy an entire dump truck worth....my DH got just a few yards once....it would only have been a few dollars more for entire dump truck load worth - it is the truck you are really paying for.

PFFT--I got no such thing when I did it all myself two years ago! LOL Including driving Big Red, the 1991 Ford Diesel, long-bed, 5spd, extended cab with the hardest clutch from hell! LOL

Yes, we're going to have some dude come over (I think he works for the PUD) and have him evaluate the drainage issues and make suggestions. Apparently, he does this for a pack of beer. I am thinking that if slipped him $5 with that pack of beer, he might suggest a POND!

The Okanogan Concrete place charges about $250 per dump truck load...which isn't too bad but it is when you consider how many dump trucks it would take to even make a dent in the size area we have! LOL

Zgoatlady! My DH has said he wants you to make him a nitro-methane burnout soap-on-a-rope (such as the nitro drags?) The first time he said it I only caught the "methane burnout" part and couldn't stop laughing thinking he was talking about a underpants burnout....:lol such a stupid thing for an adult to laugh about

Yes--I'm sure it would be fine with her.. when I told her I was thinking like 15 chickens--she was like 50? I said no, 15. And she was like as in 1-5? LOL

Maybe you can I can split an order of 50 and split shipping? I am thinking that if you and I both helped I'm sure we could fly though em pretty quick! I was thinking though about ordering in mid-summer and then butchering in early fall? That way, I wouldn't be 8-9 months pregnant and it wouldn't be 100 degrees outside. I would have had the baby already and been recovered and ready! LOL

Edited to add--I'll have some cull Creves by then and maybe some RIR roos to do, too...and as far as keeping them at your place...okay...but we'd have to work out something on the feed...not sure how that would work...

YOu might call Lee and Duke and see how much they are....maybe it is because you are so far out, but that seems a bit spendy. Or it could be the size of the truck load too.

Hey you might want to stash a few fivers so that you can "encourage" the PUD guy to give you the pond you want, by suggesting to DH that this would make a great drainage area for all the water to collect in. Don't mention the ducks or geese at this point.

Yankee Candles has already made a fresh cut grass candle. I think it was called Green Grass. Don't know if they still make it. It's one of my two very favorites along with the Wild Cherry.

I have ordered my incubator. I'll be searching for some Marans and Welsummer eggs for dark brown as well as Araucana or Ameraucana or EE for blue eggs. I don't need SQ - just friendly girls (and a roo or two) for eggs to eat and share. I showed dogs (Bichons) for almost 20 years and I know it's LOTS of work. I'm enjoying my free time now so I will just be hangin' out and visiting with my girls.

I can help you with BCM eggs and Wheaton Marans also if you want some that are close..

Yes I love the place. Im trying to find rice paper so I can make the one dish at home.

I can bring you some if you are looking for the transparent stuff they make vietnamnese spring rolls out of.
You have to dip it in a pan of hot water, then quickly put it on your plate to wrap stuff in.
Like a see through burrito.

Yes Yes

Heck, have a couple of fivers ready....just in case it

Yeah, they will deliver within a 10 mile radius of town and then it's extra. We're more than 10 miles out.
