Thanks CR, going to miss meeting you! I know I will love it. Hey, kind of late now but maybe for future, had an idea for the extra sails. Weld a rod to the back of it an make some garden stakes.

That idea is already in the bator. See when we were into the pygmy goats I tried some of this stuff with goats. One of the problems was that there was not the net working like on here. I have a few goat items that I will be taking pics of to show. Keep checking "my page" and look at the ironimagery page on there.

pips&peeps :

Hello everyone!

Getting the kids off to school then have to finish packing up the birds and stuff in the car. Only bringing 3-4 birds to the show, most of them I wanted to bring had a broken feathers once you spread out the wings or tails. One of my cockerels got into a fight and lost half his beard also, so leaving them home for the next one.

See ya at the show!!!!

I know what you mean! Even my individually caged boys have been so rowdy (because it's spring) that I pull them out and they have broken primaries! Gah! And Stevenson is soon! Gah! I'm bringing a couple of really young birds to show, although I know they have a chance in hell of winning, because I want opinions on them. Oh, and my SLW cock broke a primary too during his bath. It's ok, it's all experience and fun.

Sorry I can't help but if ya don't get an answer here soon go to the emergencies thread. Make sure to post as much info as possible. Good luck!

Thanks anyway... patience is not one of my strong points and is probably what is needed most right now.

Well, if it's pipped it's getting air but if there is no progress by now it's probably having a hard time moving around to zip. I'ts your decision to help. I only help if it's stuck from shrink wrap, otherwise usually I end up helping something that shouldn't have hatched anyway. Also depends on how much money I spent on the eggs cause you never know. With my own eggs that I have plenty of it's survival of the fittest. I would give it 24 hrs from pip then help. I have had chicks pip on the narrow end. Stuff happens. Thats the reason I don't hatch in egg cartons anymore. Lost some babys that couldn't hatch and didn't realize it cause I couldn't see the pip. They have a hard time bacause the are trying to come out at the bottom of an egg carton.

Just popping in for a quick hello! Mom is doing well, although shopping for nursing/rehabilitation centers is NOT fun. The move was hard. But she realizes she's gotta do what she's gotta do to get home, so all is good after a couple of trying days!

So very happy to hear that Mike's wife's family is ok! That mess in Japan is just heartbreaking.

I'm so excited for all of you going to the show! I am soooooooo sad that I will miss it! However, apparantly my DH has volunteered my four Orpington pullets up for the 4-H Judging Contest for the kids to use in judging production hens. So they will be there! My two black and one blue English Orps from Bamachickens line and my one Lavender Orp pullet from Hinkjc's line. But they won't be part of the Poultry Show. I told my oldest DD she has to babysit them though, so they don't get dropped or mishandled by any of the younger 4-H kids.

Redreiner, that folding table you picked up from me belongs to Robin / Chickielady and the raffle items you have are also hers.

I was going to bring sticky labels for name tags, so I hope someone else brings some!

We had 13 total chicks hatch earlier this week but lost one of our little cochin bantams, so down to an even twelve. 2 Serama, 3 cochin bantams, 3 Olive Eggers (2 girls and 1 boy) and 4 BLRW for Tifsbroodybabes! And I have more cochin bantams cooking and I think they are due next Tuesday. And best of all, my Lavender Ameraucana pullet has finally laid her first egg and the kids said it is a gorgeous turquoise blue! I'm dying to see them! So when I get home I will be putting in eggs from my Orps who are all laying now, my Lav Am and a few more olive egger eggs in the incubator.

As far as Olive Eggers go, there is a great thread on here about them: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=131131

You
can learn alot from reading that. Like I found out that by breeding my Lav Ameraucana Roo over my Golden Cuckoo / Black Copper mixed Marans hen, the babies will be sexlinked. Only the male chicks will inherit the cuckoo (barred) gene and will have a white spot on their head. Sure enough, the kids said out of the 3 black olive egger chicks, one has a clear as day white spot on his head! Which sure makes picking out the future laying hens much easier!!!

So you all have fun at the show and please post lots of photos!!!

OK, for all who are still here and not headed to the show today, I have my first Delaware hatch! Hatch day is tomorrow but I had one hatch yesterday. I guess he was too excited. I'm thinking roo! Everyone else will be hatching while I'm at the show tomorrow. Maybe most will be hatched before I leave.

And surprize surprize, I asked DH if he wanted to come along and he's actually considering it. I texted him and he texted back "sounds like a clucking good time". I think he was just joking though. If it's not raining he's probably going to want to get some stuff done outside.

I'm getting ready to pack up my birds and hit the road...early, I know but we got about an inch of snow last night and Stevens looks bad http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/passes/stevens/default.aspx

So
Ill probably try going Snoqualmie instead...it's about 45 minutes to an hour longer though....

http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/passes/snoqualmie/default.aspx

I just have to finish throwing my stuff in a suitcase and pack up my birds...not a fun thing to do. I had a dream that I was packing up a bantam roo and he started to escape and outside the coop was an all-white weasel with a big black dot on it's side. For some reason, I had left the coop door open and he was booking towards outside and this bobcat. So I grabbed at him and of course, grabbed his tail--all of which came out in my hand!

So he got outside and the dogs were fighting the weasel (which was actually a very small BOBCAT) and one of my mares came over and stomped it to death. The weird part was that I was more concerned about the roo's tail feathers than I was the bobcat battling dogs. LOL

Kinda jealous I don't get to go to the show and meet all of you

boo work

On another note getting ready to clean mah giant dog kennel chicken holding device! The chicks I swear have doubled their size in the last week, don't know if that's normal or not lol Don't think they're going to fit in the box I have for them... considering letting them run free in the hallway while I clean their cage but think they might get into too much trouble >_>

On the no-see-ums...they fly in hordes..tiny tiny black flies that look alot like a gnat.
You feel a sting & slap and there was a no-see-um biting you.
I have found they itch and sting way more so than skeeters.
