My claim to fame is Olalla. Yes, there really is a place called Olalla. I think we are it tho. There is a post office and not much else. I have 25 birds, 4 RIR, 2 silkies, 19 other breeds. They are about 9 months old and laying like crazy!! I'm new to all this stuff but learning fast and finally relaxing a little. I think I'm going to go to the show in Stevenson on April 16-17. Any one else going?

DW and I will be 19 years in May. Part of what has made that 19 years work is WE EACH HAVE OUR OWN REMOTE !!!!!!

LOL...Thank you and congrats on your upcoming anniversary. I got my own remote, years ago, but DH kindof invaded my space and took over my extra remote.

Silkies are probably the easiest to handle, but aren't the best free ranging types- require predator secure coops. The same thing works to the advantage of a kid- the bird doesn't run because it doesn't see them coming (although most don't seem to care too much either way. Very docile birds... in fact, I'm spoiled with the docility of my breeds of choice. So laid back.

I dont have much experience with Silkies. But the one silkie hen that I have is completely oposite of what you describe. She is an awsome forager, is constantly watching for the Eagle, osprey, hawk, ect... Does not like to be anywhere near a person, and gods forbid you try to pick her up!

See this little smiley? Well that would be here! She is the crabbiest little fuzz ball I have EVER met. lol Now she might just be a freak, as alot of my critters tend to be. But I have the exact oposite of what you discribed. lol

Lol I have two showgirl silkies. Funniest little fluffers ever. They're skiddish around people though, but hilarious to watch.

Thank you. We did think about the silkies. I do like their look.

Sorry, we still have not hung ours up. My mom has the perfect place and I gotta get over there and help her. Me...I gotta go and find the perfect place. DH and I have been walking around the yard deciding the perfect place. I was showing it off today, though.

Wow Mike!! I didn't know you had so many colors. . . LOVE the Impeyans and Reeves as usual. I always think to myself, - If Pheasants actually could live out here in a healthy manner, I'd love some Impeyans for those feathers and for their meat. Oh man they would make some amazing jewelry and the sort!

GOOD NEWS!!!!

Mom got a call from Colonel Potters Cairn Terrier Rescue. Rufus has been found!!!

Apparently he was turned in to the local vet in Leavenworth and they ran the chip information on him. slowly things worked out to get us contacted.

Hopefully he is at the vet because a tourist thought it was the best place for him and that he is not injured.

I knew he wasn't coyote chow. i couldn't find any trace. (other than the great horned owl...)

Mom was crying on the phone to me how happy she was.

I told her to fence the deck before he is brought home to prevent any more cliff jumping dogs.... (we have another dog called Sky, but after one winter of him making a habit of jumping off the tallest part of the deck (which was quickly fenced... not sure why the shorter end was never fenced... must of been fuzzy logic) well his new nick name is Sky Pilot.)

so for once good new being posted. will inform once i learn of his condition

on another note i have new chicken print fabrics that i have been wanting to wash to pre shrink and bleed and for once the washing machine here in the dorm is constantly busy.... -sigh-. i have a new supply of chicken feed bags to work on atleast...
