Hey everyone! Just wondering if there is anyone out there that may have a nice young Buff orp rooster for sale? No hatchery please. I am looking for a nice quality, doesn't have to be show quality roo for my laying flock. I will come pick him up if I have too, no problem! Just would like to get some replacement chicks going. Thank you!

Just gotta luv it when a day goes well. Since it is cold and windy I decided to wear my old insulated Carhartt bibs. Well They no longer have any loose fringe and won't be draggin on the ground. Seems hot sparks and tattered clothes just don't mix so well. Boy was Da Fat Kid dancin for a bit tryin to put out the fire.

Then some of the smaller long pieces of steel I had stored overhead in the shop decided they would rather be on the ground. Luckily I was just out of the way but it still knocked down one of the big lights, scattered stuff off the bench and broke my grabber tool. So then I had to take time I didn't have to make a new way to hold the stuff up out of my way. I did get a few more things made today and that will pretty much be the end for now. Tomorrow will br all about trying to figure how to pack this stuff to prevent damage.

Gettin close gettin close!!!!! IS IT TIME TO LEAVE?????? ARE WE THERE YET ??????

QUESTION TO ALL CHICKEN PROS: Okay, we hatched 8 out of 13 eggs. I let the last 5 eggs sit for another 2 or 3 days...nothin. I unplugged on day 22/23. now looking at the calendar...I was exhausted and I didn't count right. I thought I was unplugging on day 23/24. We just cracked open the eggs and all had full-grown fetuses in them. I feel awful. These 5 eggs were in the incubator a good 36 hours after everyone else had hatched...they had no movement. I saw nothing that had looked like the other 8 that told me there was an alive chick in it. We placed eggs in the later evening. I have read: If placed in the evening....count the next day as day 1. I think I messed up.

How long do YOU leave in the incubator. Next hatch I am numbering the calendar so I know exactly how many days. I have been working so many hours and I was just exhausted I had thought it had been 2 full days since the last one had hatched and these 5 were sitting there with no movement...no sound. I also smelled them and they did not smell Like rotten eggs.
Questions:
* How long do you wait...how many days total do you give?
* How long after last of the other hatched do you wait?
* Could they have died at the very end as fully (or looked to be) formed chicks?

Remember I am still learning and this was a giant leap of learning here. All other chicks are doing great and are fat and sassy and cute.

Kitsap Penn?
And how many chickens do you have room for???

We are in the Poulsbo-Silverdale area.
We have room for about 15-20 chickens total. But hubby says no more than 10. So I can add three more.
