See! That is why I sudgested the name MOT... Remember what it stands for, "if I remember correctly, he was a little booger to begin with, right?" Meat On Table

Oh yeah!
And he is so spoiled & high & mighty, he actually gets mad at me if I coo to the Javas or to the Cochin..he is insanely jealouse.
And actually, to get the back straight, I am to breed the RIW hens to a White Rock Cock (which I bought eggs & hatched 3 weeks ago) and that leaves Mr. MOT to the soup pot anyway.
I was going to keep him cuz he was such a sweetie, but he has given me every reason to cull him.
I have to go through his pen to the Coop door, and feed barrell, several times a day, and I have to take a shovel with me, this is getting old, especially with arms full of feed buckets or a wheel barrel, always looking behind me, forget it!
Soon as I have a plucker, he is gone!
Maybe sooner if he hurries me along........

Imagine my surprise when a PULLET did this to me yesterday!!! She just came off being broody. I let her keep her lone chick for almost a week (I usually pull them MUCH earlier than that, but with the show and whatnot, didn't this time). I had just put her back in general population on Tuesday, and yesterday when I went out to collect eggs, etc, she kept running at me and pecking the jebezus out of my shoes, etc. I gave her a few flying lessons, and STILL had to slam the coop door in her face as she was coming at me again!! Can't wait to get Ilia's blue roo down here to teach her a thing or two!!!

Wow, never heard of that, although 2 of my Ameraucanas went broody a few weeks ago, and were nasty growling & pecking mean.
I cured their broodiness, but still they are laying sporadically....I could not get to the gate when MOT came at me ...He is OK but has quite the bloody beak...bad idea as DH is watching & will go after the bird in a manly way.
MOT is a BIG bird!!!!!!!!! Heavy !!!
I carry a shovel now, and he is steering clear, but that happened last time too...and in a few days he will go off again.

When I'm building pretty much anything with a slanted roof. I go 1" rise per foot of roof width. So 4' wide roof, "from peak to eve" would be 4". I couldn't tell you what the angle would be, but thats what I go by. And it works well for our area.

Yes a really good idea is to stick with 4x8 foot dimensions, such is plywood & OSB panels, and stay on 16" centers for your studs so all will line up.

Holy cow!! I can't imagine having to go through that with one of my birds...I am too wussy for it! My husband bugs me all the time that our birds are better fed then he is sometimes and he wants me to save one just for him to try...so if I had a bird like that I would point at it and say have at it hunny! Sweet birds...nah can't stand the thought...mean birds, he can have them!

Good luck figuring out what to do!!!

The Peace Corps insisted I have mine out before I joined. They didn't want to have to deal with it when it became an issue. I was older than you. I had to have an oral surgeon take some of mine out.

Wow! These are nice! Love all your flowers too.

I just hung a couple of window boxes on my coop. The nursery owner threw in some ancient coconut coir liners from some much larger boxes. I'm going to see if any is salvageable when I trim them to size.
