I use a mini led maglight. Super bright, comes with a rubber cap, and the eggs just happen to fit perfectly on it. So far I have been able to see through even the Marans eggs in my incubator.

ok I've got one, but it doesn't have the rubber? maybe I'm holding it wrong!!

Just last week I picked up a really cool 150 lumens "Task Force" LED flashlight from Lowe's and it made a world of difference for me from my little 104 lumens LED light. I didn't like the hard metal end so perused the plumbing department and found some O rings that appeared to fit pretty well, so I taped them on with some electricians tape and now the flashlight has a cushier end to hold my eggs against. It's not so pretty but it really lit up the inside of those eggs. Now I can see them doing a little cha cha a week before they're due!

I have tried looking for lumens on the flashlight and all I see is how many candles?? But, I will look specifically for that flashlight!! Thank you so much! I've looked at this one perticular egg a few different times using various flashlights and I just can't see well?? Can you take a picture of it?? My BF wants to see the O ring end!! lol!

Haha - not much to see since it's all taped up, but I have some "spare" parts so I'll show you pics of the parts and the taped flashlight. Give me about an hour - I have to get an electric stapler so I can build my brooder tonight. I'll be back!

Hey fellow Washingtonians! :) I live in Bellingham, WA. I'm out in the county and still trying to find out if I can have chickens if I live in the watershed. If you know, please inform. I have a call into the county office but of course they haven't called back lol. As soon as I find out I'm probably getting three chickens. I would love recommendations if you know what the best bantam layers are. Looking for gentle birds that my toddler can be around (under very close supervision, of course). THANKS!!!

From Ethel, WA I don't know if they are "the best" but I do know they are very good layers. RIR bantams very calm little birds that lay a Nice size eggs. Mine scale between small and med. butthe birds eat way less than LF.
