There is a really good chance I'll go some where this weekend and get me some. I'm very willing to pick up a few extra and bring them back to Yakima.

Seriously would love that. I dont care really what breed, just something that lays often. You would be my hero if you could do that. Thanks so much.
Let me know if you do go and I'll make arrangements to meet you after and get the chickens picked up and paid for.

No, sorry. But I sure wish I could have roos. Wish I had room to do some actual breeding.

Sorry, I don't need 'em either. As of yesterday, I'm pretty sure I have at least 2 roo's myself, a Polish and a BR.
hmm.png
It's not that I can't have 'em, but this is my first year, and I really wanted to see how this winter goes with a somewhat calm group before I add the roo drama!
roll.png
And I've got roos down the road that take care of waking every one for MILES!
big_smile.png

I hadn't seen ANYTHING different about size or feathering or any of that, then suddenly I could see the darker comb and what I think is the start of wattles in both of them. The Polish is a little more aggressive, but ALL my WCBP's are thugs, lol, and at this age, ALL of 'em, EE's included, are a bunch of maniacs...

The stuff I read on BR's said ONLY pullets have the black on their legs, and this one has all black down the front of his/her legs, but the comb has been a shade darker for almost a week. They're right at 5 weeks, so I guess it's too soon for them to start crowing?

I'll try to get some pics this evening, cuz I'd really 'preciate some more learned opinions.

My silky is a crabby little monster, but she lays every day. But keep in mind my silky is a freak, and doesnt like to hold to standerds, everyone tells me how friendl silkys are, but not mine. She's crazy, and the exception to the rule. But she gives me LOTS of tiny little eggs! Plus alot of entertainment! She cracks me up, the way she moves, and every time I see her run I laugh.

Sorry Im tired and rambling.

Wanna see something absolutely hysterical running ?
Toss some bread far from a Cochin, and watch the pointed-toed ballerinas run..it is soo funny!!
Like a hippo in toe shoes, they hop real high with each step!!

probably even funnier than seven EEs all jumping like basketball players, after the bread crust I"m about to toss to them ...

Ok, so really excited. So much so, that right after responding to your post, i had to go outside and clip the bushes around the pen I ll be using so I can get to the chickens. If the store was open that I buy wood from, I would have hopped in the car and went down there right away to. Can't wait to know if I'll actually get some this weekend. YAY!

It is a well kept north west secret that chickens with skinny feet cant thrive in the swamp.
You need the webbed feet variety that likes to lay a big egg each and every day until ya light bulb burns out!

The wine bottle variety is best. Different vintagse tend to give you different bouquet eggs.
Blue eggs are the best of course.

Check out the catalog. Notice the beautiful feet, just the kind for the NW swamps.

Notice also how straight they stand. This facilitates the fast run off of heavy down pours we experience...10 months of the year.

They also look good in a bath robe. (Bath robes not included in bird order)

It comes in many vintages but cinnamon has the nicest after taste. Especially after you kiss them.

They are also highly adaptable and have been known to get addicted to the TV but are very clean and will wear diapers if given peas in the bath water.

According to my sources...ponds are apparently not required, but a yard full of slimy slugs are a prerequisite.

That is great news!

X 2! Here's hoping the 'cautious' part becomes an all clear with the new therapy...

Couldn't help but laugh about the rain in the hood... I was wearing my hoodie sweatshirt in the run yesterday, one of the ladies perched on my neck for a bit and left me a little present that I didn't find until later that evening...

Prompted this little poem to form in my head:

Ode to my Chickies:

Each day I come here to sit and visit.
I find your antics just exquisite.
To watch you play gives me so much pleasure.
The joy you bring me? I canΒ’t measure.
But I do have one thing to ask:
I hope itΒ’s not too great a task.
Before you jump up in my lap
To take your precious chicken nap,
IΒ’d think it oooh sooo kind of you
To, um, take a second;
Lose the pooΒ…?
