Hatching buddies! I have another batch that went into lockdown tonight! I started with 10 each of my Lav/Split Orps, BLRW & Olive Eggers. On day 10 I lost 3 of the Orps. Tonight the rest of them looked great! 27 at lockdown! I think that is a record for me. There is going to be no room inside my LG that I use as a hatcher!!!!

Julie/Pettec63, this set has your chicks in it, so you might want to plan another road trip soon to come get them! Hatch day is Saturday!

Excellent news! She will feel so good when she gets home! When my mom broke her leg in March, it took her over 2 months to get home because she lives on the second floor with no elevator. She was soooooooooooooo happy to get home!

The 35* was what weather.com said we were going get. Maybe it got colder. One other time you were colder than we were here so maybe you are in a cold pocket.

My therm. said 28 and given that the ground was white I think the 28 is pretty close.

It can be so exciting and aggravating!

Thanks this is my first one and I got the eggs from TX!! so not sure what I'm looking at when I candle, so it will be interesting and I will do an eggtopsy on the ones that don't hatch.

My biggest tip is to look at the size of the air sac in every egg. Sometimes the egg is just so darn full, that it is hard to actually see the chick moving in there, so I go by the size of the air sac, especially at lockdown. The more you look at, the more you will know if it is the correct size for lockdown. In earlier candling's it's easier to see a blood ring or to tell that the chick isn't moving. It's a little harder at lockdown. Good luck!!!!

I also have one more batch cooking, lockdown on them is 5/23. But I ordered some more BLRW eggs to get some different bloodlines in my flock and they should be here tomorrow.

Praying that I get a few out of that batch. I've gotten spoiled hatching mostly my own eggs and having them all do so well!

My bantam cochins and my lav amerauacana are still holding out on me and not laying. I might do another batch if they pick up again. I also just put my big blue English Orp back in with her man about a week ago after she went broody and hatched a single baby. She's still holding out on me but I wanna hatch a couple of her eggs as well.

If you think wood is bad, don't even think about trying fabric. It's not even rigid.

Oh I can deal with fabric. Cause at least if ya go and get a yard of fabric ya know it is 36"x36" not some S T U PID size smaller. And with fabric if ya cut it too small ya can just sew it up and start over. Just like steel weld it up and start over. But wood OOOh NO just turn it into fire starter and buy new wood.
Did I ever tell ya I hate working with wood ??

I got that.

Me, I make my own boards.

my EE roo started seriously trying to crow at just over 2 months -- at first it was a "dog squeaky toy" kind of noise, then it approached a gargle .... three weeks later it is still not a FULL crow but he definitely makes a roo kind of noise
