I had 3 more LF Lemon-Blue Cochins, and 2 more Black Javas and 1 Olive Egger hatch out during the night.
The Wine Bottle Babies have been kicked out of the brooder house due to their growth rate and profound love of dabbling in the water & making a big wet mess of all their shavings.
They are currently living in the Guinea Pen, and have a nice heat lamp and water & feed and lots of room!
They seem a bit scared of the new digs and big wide world, but are venturing forth none the less......
I got an empty clean big maragrine tub out from under my sink this morning to store food scraps in..and at the bottom was a small round bug with what looked like arms waving at ME!!!!!!!
Upon inspection with an eye loup, I saw it was indeed arms!
And had crab-like pinchers at the end of the waving arms!!
A scorpion!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Turns out to be a wind scorpion...little dude will raise his pinchers as a threatening gesture and stand tall on his 8 legs!!!!!!
Cool bug!
I sent a PM to our resident bug expert, Illia, to tell her.
She may want the scorpion for her collection.
In the mean time, I have lots of spider mites to catch for him to persue, and eat.
