Didn't take it wrong at all. I'm having trouble figuring out how a couple of under 50 lb dogs could do that much damage and not be at least limping! Actually, to me, they looked almost like a couple of basenjis, just without that brindle coloring. The Deputy looked at the pics and said he thought definitely one was yote, the other could be...
not a great pic; they were about 300 ft away and this is the most my camera would zoom

Right behind them where the scraggle trees start is the end of our prop and goes up a hill where they have at least 2 dens that I've watched in the past.

I also thought they could belong to some of the orchard workers, because we get new uncollared, intact animals here every year about this time, but they're normally more friendly. These guys skulk like coyotes, but don't look quite as lean or hungry as the yotes we've had in the yard in the past...

Wow...this board moves fast!!! LOL From my posting 1 day ago, and all the warm welcomes several pages ago....thank you much!

Someone asked based on my name if I was just thinking about the chicken keeping concept so far, and yes that is true. Although the name will stick at any stage because I am always thinking and pondering stuff.

Right now I am looking at coops and reading this board at least an hour everyday and just need to get brave enough to move forward. I have some lumber available to get me started but I am trying right now to figure out the most economical, and somewhat attractive, coop for my yard. It is just hard because I am doing this all alone...but I guess we all have to start somewhere.

I check Craigslist daily and even put out an ad to get bids to have a coop built, but it is all so expensive! I just cannot see starting out with a $1000 coop!! I have some money for this right now but just have to be smart with it. Anyone selling a nice coop for cheap or know someone who helps build where it could be economical for me?? :) Doesn't hurt to ask and network.

PonderingChick Not sure what part of the state you are in but another idea is to watch Craigs List for "Free" coops. For a little sample of what can be had check out my BYC page. I am also currently working on the second one I got. It is a matter of timing, how much ya wanna do to make it what ya want and location location location. I tend to miss a lot of stuff because I am too far out in the styx and won't travel too far.

Sure does sound like it would work better....just heard on the news that we have had 1.25 inches of rain. I am sick of it...so are my birds.

they dont resemble basenjis either, basenjis come in black and tan and red and white as well as brindle. they do resemble shepherd mixes. the gray one appears to be sable. regardless of what they are they need to be caught or killed. Coyotes usually will not take on large livestock, you said there were Llamas on the property? strange they did not stomp them into oblivion. Glad your dogs are off the hook!

In the last two days we received 2.5 inches of rain some places close by received around 5 to 6 inches. We are right in the middle of tornado season, in a couple of weeks the chances of tornados will start to go down. I hope we only get rain.

It seems like you all have had a very wet and cold spring, I hope it warms up for you all. I know in a couple of weeks I will be wishing for winter.
