I've hatched eggs with crooked air cells. Can you see movement in them? I usually leave all eggs in for two more days if I am unsure.

I've also hatched a few "sticky chicks" along the way. Where they don't fluff out and have a gooey layer on them. I've given them a warm bath (a little warmer than luke warm but not hot) and brushed with an old toothbrush and Dawn if it's really bad and rinse well. Dry them best you can and pop them back in the incubator to dry off. I once had a chick I had to do this with 3 times, he was that gooey. Just couldn't get it off!

I'd love a splash pullet if you are willing to wait long enough to sex them! I've got Orp roo's coming out of my ears! She would go nicely with my blue hen and black roo and assure me more blue chicks in the future. My blue hen who was broody and hatched our your "Thor", that's what I named your roo from Hoss, started laying again and I put a bunch of her eggs in the bator earlier this week.

She was (I think, if I remember correctly) third in command behind my big roo and Clara...

The funny thing is she is not anywhere near the top of the pecking order when they are in the coop or run, but free ranging, they all defer to her judgement! Even funnier because I don't think you had them free range! Maybe it is because she is not much of a forager. She suns herself and enjoys the view when she's out. At night she usually perches on the low roost and hangs her head in the feeder and eats! She's pretty full by morning.

PPP-Congrats on your BABY BOY!!! How exciting! I have 3 girls, so have no boy advice! Glad the ultrasound went well. When is your due date?

Stumpfarmer-so sorry about the ribs! We thought DH cracked a rib from a sneeze last year the day before we were supposed to leave for Hawaii. X-rays showed nothing, but he was in a lot of pain the whole trip! No fun!

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine today. We are hosting a neigborhood meeting on Thursday and will have around 20 folks here for dinner and all. We are frantically cleaning.

We are touching up the hard wax oil floor this morning from all the doggy scratches, and hope to get outside afterwards to let it dry.

I have 3 girls and they were all easy peasy babies! You will be fine!!!

Nope I never had them out. The LS don't range very well--never would eat table scraps or leftovers with much enthusiasm, either.

no I havent seen any movement, I will leave them in for a day or two, see what happens. just the air cell is big! of course they are from the nicest blue girl I have.... the last one to hatch I think is blue, gray with yellow in the front.
