That would break my heart, but it will come back fairly quickly from the roots. If you want height quickly select one sprout to be the new leader , and prune all the others off.

What a cutie! I need to stop looking because I want goats for blackberry control, and DH says NO GOATS!!!!

I know!! they are hell on fences tho!! got hot wire EVERYTHING!! lol

So speaking of goats, anyone know if goats will eat rhodies? I know that rhodies are bad for goats, I just wonder if the goat knows they are bad & will stay away from them naturally? Just a question my husband asked me & I didn't know.

didn't know that about them eating black berry's, my goats like to rub fences, they occasionally put their front legs on it to get my attention, or what is very interesting, is if you don't have your hot wire low enough, they will actually time the hot wire, and run under it!! The first time we put up hot wire, it wasn't low enough and so we put them out in the field and the next thing you know they were back up top?? I was scratching my head, how in blazes did they get through........then I watched them!! LOL we got it down now!! and yes they do have a sense of humor, and it's usually on me!!! lol!! But, they were such cute babies!!! lol!

Over here in blackberry land, there's people who make a living renting out flocks of goats to clear brush- mostly blackberries- out of stormwater ponds.

Wow!! good use of livestock I'd say, great tax deduction!!! LOL!

Huh? It's salvageable? There's nothing left but a stump.

DH was going to dig it up and burn it. It looks like the center of the truck is rotten? I need shade fast...before it gets too hot out....last few years, I've had to resort to throwing tarps over my runs and DH says it looks, "white trash."

So I've been babying this little tree and it finally got big enough to provide shade this summer and snapped.

I'm just glad the wind was blowing in the right direction and that it was only 10-15 feet tall...if my big cottonwood decides to go, it will take out my entire coop.

I read in an earlier post some one had some goats, ( sorry I can't remember who) who said that had a whopping vet bill cause their goats got into Rhodies! Goats are smart but, maybe not that smart!!

Depends on the kind of sheep; the Jacob I'm getting is from a wool herd, there are milk sheep down in Adna at a cheesmaker's place who lost his whole herd and his "cave" in the 2007 Boisfort flood. Milk and fleece herds in the US are also meat herds, since the US demand is for young lamb, not mutton; herds of primarily meat animals are more common in Australia, New Zealand, and western China. Of course anyone with any kind of sheep (this may not be true of some Milk Breeds, I'm not that up on them) have to deal with shearing and selling wool, because wool is what sheep do.

well this is going to be fun, I have to round up my Muscovy drake to take him up to Yakima tomorrow to meet this gal from Ellensburg! Terry's gone and he is a quick one!! I better take some Ibuprofen now!! ..... I wonder if I can find the fishing net??
