I have a cockerel who is "nearly" mature, he is crowing, he is getting frisky with the hens

no he isn't an Ameraucana, he's an Easter Egger .. but he is sure purty, and he is going to have to find a new home, I doubt that the neighbors will put up with crowing (will definitely get him out of here when we get back next week)

he's either a silver duckwing with gold leakage and dominant white, or a black breasted red with dominant white and gold leakage

not sure of my terminology here .. I don't have a pic to post yet, or I'd ask Illia

black/silver head and breast with white blotching on breast; gold bordered saddle and hackle feathers with teal in the saddle feathers

and now some "red leakage" coming through there too

mostly white wings with teal at the tips

teal and black iridescent tail feathers

pea comb, small red wattles, slate colored legs with a slight green tinge

clean faced

pleasant and "just one of the girls" most of the time, chest bumps the girls and is now starting to pursue just a bit

will occasionally eat out of my hand but mostly stays about 2 feet away

CR, I know what you meant by it. No worries. Thanks! It took me almost 11 years to take said highway. Not an easy decision no matter what.
I guess I am going to have to break it to Ron and all you men out there......it IS the woman that gets to lay down the law! Lol!

Yup you are so right Kim (just as you ladies always are [in your own minds] ).

I don't get to say how far the train goes or when the whistle blows but let the dang thing jump the track and see who catches heck.

I'm reminded of another joke. Guy says I make the big decisions like who is president. She makes the little decisions like where we live.

I am also still chickenless, but your list looks much like mine. What you are looking for in chickens matches my list too. (friendly with kids, large brown eggs, suited to our wet weather, etc) When I went to the Mother Earth News Fair a couple weeks ago, there was a speaker on poultry who wrote a book (don't know her name offhand, and can't look it up right now) but she talked about Dominiques and listed all the qualities I was looking for. She said they were super friendly and really promoted them. I had not heard of them before that. Does anyone in WA have them?

Anyone going to the Seattle Coop tour this Saturday? Or anyone here in it? I hope to get DH to take me since I went to his family bbq for the 4th. Next Sat should be MY day, right?

Wow, how can you guys remember all those dates? All I can say is I was born in Southern California, moved to Pennsylvania sometime as an infant then moved back to San Diego around 3-4 yrs old. Then to Vista CA in about 4th grade, to Ramona CA as a teen, to Escondido CA after college, to Ramona CA when out on my own and got married, then to WA State in 1992, the only actual date I can remember. I guess if I actually thunk real hard I could figure out most of them. I mostly remember from 4 yrs on since we had just moved to San Diego and I started Kindergarten at 4 going on 5 in a month. I remember both parents working so I had to get myself to school. My mom showed me the time on the clock I was supposed to leave and I walked a few blocks to school. At 4 years old! almost 5. Those were the good old days. No one thought it was a big deal. No predators or almost none and smarter more confident kids! I wasn't the only kindergartener walking to school. My kids at 4 or even 5 I never would have remotely considered it. Even if I did they would have flat out refused. Too skeerd.

Fourth was uneventful. DH went somehwere, don't know where just glad not here. The Corgi did great on her tranquilizer. No big explosives close so horses did good too. Kids went to a friends on the water.

One of my little spitz is crowing already. My Brabanter cockerel, who is a month older, hasn't crowed yet. Spitz just seem to be early crowers. This guy's crest is too Polish, so I know I'm not keeping him.

Well what the heck. I'm not going to tax my brain to remember the dates. But Gleed, Sunnyside, Goldendale, The Dalles OR. , Boyd OR, Underwood, Salkum, Mossyrock, Seattle (for 2 months too long), Cinebar and Ethel.
