I can always hope but since it is really not very big and most are only here an hour or so... Not bragging just saying for an idea I have the biggest "space" here. Here is mine before the others got here.

Nice set up, you need to have a sign with your name on it. Also maybe something about special orders if you do them.. Good color

I think a back-drop would help too. You could hang it off the 'back' of the shade-pop up. It would give you more of a 'booth' feel. You might not want to 'look' commercial, but if you show the appearance of some commercialism you might attract buyers and not lookers?

This advice comes from someone who has no clue about selling stuff at Lavender fests.

so were are you getting the strawberrys at? I want to do jam and not sure if there are any left now?

June bearing are still going..at least mine are.
After that, whoever has Everbearing varieties will still have some.
I am freezing strawberries, and adding raspberries when they are ready..into a plastic container in the freezer.
When full, I pop the berry cube out & put in a ziplock, and start again.
I have 4-5 big berry blocks so far.
When the blackberries are ready, I will keep going with them the same way.
This way, I can make jam, cobbler or shortcake all winter YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!

Thats a great idea...

I can handle them in small doses.. heh.

My real beef is with parents not kids. Seems like more and more parents have forgotten the lessons THEIR parents taught (or maybe they never learned them?). I think bratty kids are a result of the way they are being raised. It also never seems to fail that if there is a kid who's going to be outta line, it will be out of line with me - and with no parent around to make a correction - and that drives me fudge-nuts.

Dave

Every kid that shws up on my property is given the rules, and I tell them to the parents as well. I do nt deal with bratty, snotty kids or teenagers for that matter. Every kid that comes around here, wether they are on my property or my Mothers, they all know me as the enforcer. lol They arent afraid of me, but fr the most part they respect me and other elders when around me. Follow the rules and yuo'll be OK, dont, and you'll have to deal with me. I will skold someone elses child, but if it comes down to them needing a harsher reprimand, I haul them off to their parents and make sure something is done about it.

Sounds quite harsh, but Ive gotta protect my critters and family, and in the same time, I have to prtect thse kids as well. Wether I personally like them or not.

I grew up in a very large family, and had some awsome vallues instilled from that raising. And I would be more than happy to spread those vallues to the kids that come around.

Cause Im just a big meany!

So if your sure she's a she than Id guess a Orp. Marans do lay nice dark eggs but they dont lay everyday. Id say you get 5-6 eggs a week sometimes a little less.

That is true with the back drop. I know I change my look every year, I add more to the look so it stands out. When I go place's I look around and see what I like or stands out. Im getting ready to do a total new look but keep thinking than all my old people who stop by might not stop by. So Im still thinking on it.

I want to forwarn you! These people do not raise these birds themselves, they are hatchery birds. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but just dont let yourself be fooled. Where in the puget sound are you located? I have some pullets that I would be willing to let go, but they are a couple months from laying. I also have a mature hen that I am not particularly fond of. My best guess is that she is a hatchery dellaware. "sp?" She lays light brown eggs, and is flighty, no where near as friendly as her flock mates.

Im with you on this one. I know when my son was in 4-H I had no problem telling the kids what needed to be done. Im still that way, but now its on my bus.. I tell the kids when they start it up at the first of the year thats its going to be a long year if it keeps going on. So to make it a good year follow the rules and we will all get along great.

Hi everyone,

It looks like I ended up with both my EEs being cockerals. So I cannot keep them. They are free if anyone wants them. Yeah I know. 1 may be frizzle. They are just over 3 months old. I am looking to buy a couple of pullets. Not really picky about breed, just younger healthy & female. Travel/delivery in the Seattle Metro area not a problem. Please send me a PM or email if you want or have some pullets you wish to downsize/sell, since I have difficulties keeping up with this thread.

BTW- I believe the fruit thing is an old wives tale. It comes up on the forums occasionally. Especially Citrus.

This one's back feathers are turning backwards, and it's speading. Is that Frizzle?

Well I am ready for early birds. eventhough things aren't supposed to start till 10 I am ready for em to SHOW ME THE MONEY !!!!!
I have just kind of skimmed over the last few days. Thanks for the all the encouragement and advice. It will be well taken.

As for the kids Dave. Just remember your stick, your ball, your rules. The other day DW and I were in walmart and these 2 (early teen) kids were playing around and landed on the ground right at my feet as I was walking by. That stuff doesn't fly with me. I stopped and barked out "hey this isn't a playground you guys get up and take it out side. Talk about draw attention and get kids to straighten up.

Family reunion, family freunion...I myself need to go back to bed and tell the world to take care of itself, but that's very unlikely to happen.
