just had to brag

we got our first egg yesterday !!!!

and why didn't I post that earlier? because the egg was out under the chicken tractor and I didn't see it until I moved that today !

no clue, really, as to which gal laid it ....

kind of a mossy green .... not quite olive, but with a faint brownish tinge overlaying the medium green

say, about the color of thimbleberry or oak leaves

probably a bit smaller than the eggs they will eventually lay, this one is about as long as my thumb, maybe a little longer, and about as round as a rolled up Ace bandage

will see if hubby can take a pic of it, next to a ruler

I doubt that it's fertile, though the little roo HAS been attempting to do his thing

had to laugh, today, though --- when the rain started I shepherded the flock back into the coop-and-run ... then when weather improved I went to get them out again,
and the ROO was the one inside the (old covered catlitter box) nest box ......

wonder what he thought he was doing in there .....

A couple of those look like waterers. 20 is a good price I think.

How can you tell the difference? Sorry for the dumb question, lol.

I agree the 2 on the ends look like water. Part of the way to tell is by the look of the top, the tray with water in it and a little bit of experience. Those would probably cost more than $20 EACH new.

There are only a few Eastern WA folk who post on this thread regularly, none of them sell oriental fowl that I know of.

Illia had Shamo's, but she lives in Forks, and has been too busy growing veggies so she hasn't been posting much.

Don't know of anyone else. Sorry!

We had a fart egg today! Don't know if it's my cuckoo marans from CL or my barnvelders from CGG. I'm guessing it's the Barnvelders as it's all speckledy and lovely and not too dark!

We had one of CL's Am's start laying last week too! Can't wait to have all my new pullets in my layer flock start laying to see the pretty piles of eggs as they should be super colorful with the Am's, OE's, Barnies and Marans!!!!

X2! That big one would be 40-50 bucks. I've look recently and then made some out of 5 gal. buckets.
Good deal.
