RFF- another thing I saw a couple do was to take a pic of the baby on the same blanket every morning for the first year and then have the pics compiled into a fast moving slide show. It was so cool to watch the baby grow a whole year in a matter of minutes!

I am kinda used to having things within about 15 min to no more than 45 min away. I feel like I live way out because of the neighborhood wich every house around me has 4-5 acres, but if I need something it is not really that far away. I have never lived in the "real" sticks!

And I have only been by the exit sign to go to Tonasket, not actually to Tonasket. Maybe one of these days......well probably not unless I was visiting "someone".

Well, if you ever go to Canada - from our side of the mtns - you will go through Tonasket. Come for a visit some time.

When DS was born, we were in the process of moving across the country (DH had been working there for ~4 months, but I stayed behind for school and my health insurance) - so we didn't get a crib, which would just need to be disassembled and moved. We bought a pack-n-play, as a temporary crib.

DS absolutely would not sleep by himself. Anytime I tried to lay him down, he'd wake up and cry. For a couple of days, I slept in a chair, with him propped securely in my lap, until finally I couldn't take it anymore. I took him to bed with me, and he slept great (albeit with the expected number of nursings each night).

We never bought a crib.

Oh well, I have 2 cousins in your area that are/were in the school district "family". Barb DeHaan/Christianson who taught in Omak, and Denise Busbin (recently re-married, can't think of new surname).

So I agree, focus on the child. She just wants to stare at your face and sleep in your arms...all day if you let her.
