cute chick!

ok AM pros... I have 1 black rooster that is a AM and 1 Black rooster that is a AM x Maran

They are identical with pure black, black shanks, no feathers on shanks or feet, white bottoms of feet, small pea comb.....

The only difference is that ones tail stands upright and the other birds tail turns down...

Down turned tail:

Up tailed:

Okay, I am going to hog some space for a moment and put up some photos. I will do them in groups. First DD with her Serama - Adam - whom she got from Jbear.

Okay, now it is time for Guess My Breed. I have no clue. These are probably all cross breds. Rei handed me some eggs and said here see what happens. So let me know what you think:

I am really curious about any of these...we really like the color of this grey one. You can see Frodo - the turkin cross.

If they are breeder Ameraucanas, I would not expect them to lay until 7-8 months of age. I don't know about the Buckeyes.

I think strains are another factor to consider here too though. Jean's lines take forever in some colors ( no offense Jean, but

when waiting for Buffs ) and my Wheatens and Blue Wheatens from peachick (I believe they are Blehm x Jean) took just 5-6 months. My blues from Cree took 6 months. My blacks from Cottage Rose took 6-7 months. My Buff from Jean I believe was 9 months before she began.

Illia, Do you have any hatching eggs or chicks available in the W/BW Am? I really need to put new genes in my flock and have had no luck aquireing a Blue Wheaten Roo. You wouldn't happen to have a Blue Wheaten Am roo would you?

You don't need to stop posting pics as far as I'm concerned - I love seeing 'em! Looks like DD is having a grand time with her Seramas. Adam is a fine looking boy. I have no idea what all your X's are but they're pretty! I really like Hannah's little baby girl - love her color and markings. I enjoyed all of the photos.

Thank you so much.

DD loves her birds. She is excited to going to be able to get to show Adam (who, btw, is quite the gentleman) at the local fair. We do have quite the menagerie here...but we love them. We also have a run with the big girls in it.....2 BCM, 1 Coockoo maran and 5 BRs. Also getting merged slowly into the big coop is a Black Orp Pullet and Cockerel.

Sorry Cowgirl, no. I haven't had a Wheaten/Blue Wheaten roo in a loooong time, and he was UGLY and, ahem, horny. Plus he was missing a beard/muffs allele.

The last chick shown is a Buff Brahma

Baby 1 - Easter Egger boy

Baby 2 - Easter Egger boy with some Orpington

Baby 3 - Easter Egger pullet. Has duckwing and blue color crossed with something else. We've got an Araucana with identical color.

The Cochin's color is blue barred birchen, although I'm sure she's not actually a true birchen, probably a partridge x barred or something. (insert blue in there somewhere)

Olive Egger / Ameraucana crisis. . . .

Can I see their combs? That helps a lot, but for now I vote the down tailed guy as the Ameraucana. Olive Eggers usually are pretty gawky looking, plus, check out the broad shoulders.
