Is silly a bad word these days? Verbally incorrect or something?

I don't think so ?? The word most often heard in that phrase might sound like S T U PID ! But since that is not a kind word I am not allowed to say it. See my mammy always told me if I didnt has a kind word to say then don't say nuttin !

That is the word.

Wow. 4700 pages and I'm just seeing this thread. Well, I haven't been on byc very much even though I joined a while ago.
I'm in Skagit Valley in Washington State. Still waiting for summer and it looks like autumn. Must have blinked!
I have 16 chickens....barred rocks, RIR, americaunas and a black australorp.
I have Petunia the fertilizer bunny in my garden, finches in the kitchen and 3 cats who are where ever they feel like being.
One husband, an herb business and a belief in Jesus.

That's me.

One more chick hatched this morning, must have been in just the last few minutes since she's still pretty wet. The other 3 chicks are climbing all over her and she's exhausted trying to keep up with them.

They are all chipmunky looking chicks, one or two a little lighter yellow with stripes, one a darker brown. All have stripes on their heads and eyeliner.
I'll try to get some decent photos today, but in the meantime, here is the pic I took with my camera of the first chick yesterday morning.

One time I had two broodies at once, everything was fine untill just before hatch, one of the ladies started raising a ruckus I went out to see, she would raise up look at the eggs, set down again. She did this over and over. Then suddenly she she jumped straight up and took off like a rocket,

I did not find her untill next day. I think that the chicks peeping inside the shell and starting to move around scared her, and she just took off. I took as many of her eggs and put them under the other broodie untill she look like she was hatching a mountain, she never blinked an eye. She hatched them all. The rest I put in the incubator and those hatched too. I guess you need to be prepared no matter what stage the eggs are. Maybe your broodie solved her anxiety by removing the peeping and piping from the nest, instead of herself?
