Here in the Lake Tapps area I didn't hear the wind over night & I didn't sleep well even with the window open so I don't think we got anything bad till about 10am while in church. At the end of church about 11:30am the wind got strong & power went out for a minute, enough to turn on emergancy lights then everything back to normal. Luckily church was over & we were just chatting. We live about 2 blocks from church so our house lost power too. Probably around 1pm is when the heavy rain came in, it was dumping so hard the spray off the top of the cars made them look like they were smoking lol. The outside neighbor's shepherd mix normaly just curls up on the grass when it rains & waits it out but not in this heavy rain. She went in her dog house & waited it out. In light rains our back gutter works normal but in heavy rain it over flows. We had to close our window as the spray was coming in. We need to replace those gutters soon.

Congrats to you and your group for doing such a great job. BTW for what it's worth. Yesterday I talked personally (face to face) with a fairly high up in the USPS and was assured the problem with your shipping that were delayed. She told me that was one person and not the way the USPS directs thier people to deal with that. She told me that 1) If somebody doesn't tell us (USPS) there is a problem(the person you dealt with) we can't fix it. and 2) Given the situation that would be time go to supervisor to get results right away. Unfortunately I didn't have enough details or this lady said she would have investigated the incedent.

Hmm- I wonder why I get so much guff from them.

Congrats to Stumpfarmer & DH for 29 years of wedded bliss.

Congrats as well to csmdvm for a wonderful showing by her DS & club. You must be very proud. (I love the little white Araucana best of all our little flock. She's a lover!)

*sigh* Drove down to Rochester to look at the truck DH was interested in. We would've gotten it but then they wanted cash and not the cashiers check from the bank that DH got yesterday after talking to them! Ugh! Could've told us that they changed their mind about the bank check. Argh!
Now we're back on the road headed home. Almost up to Lacey. What was nice was that we took a break from house projects. Also our power went off about 12:30pm so we'll see if it's back on when we arrive home.

I'm so glad the two of you came! I really enjoyed meeting you, what a fun time. I think next year we will have to get a big group camp spot somewhere in the middle of the state so we can all go there - All Washington BYC people I have met are wonderful!

I just dragged myself out of bed. All the kids who spent the night are still here. They tried sleeping after watching "Chicken Run", then got into my old National Geographic collection, scared themselves with an old issue on pre-historic, giant toothy sea creatures and convinced themsleves that the Loch Ness Monster must be one, and if Scottlands could have one, their must be one hiding in Rattlesnake Lake just ready to crawl out and gobble them up.

I let the kids watch another movie, certainthey would fall asleep, but after it was over I heard a racket, they raided the kitchen and were playing Mario Carts on the Wii at 3 a.m.! The Ogress in me arose and I sent them all to bed, lights off. Finally I thought I could get some sleep, but all the beer activated my bladder, and by 7 am the kids were up again and swimming in the pool!

As much as I'd like to be there, I'm not driving to Chickeladies today, too tired to hit the road. We will have to plan a trip out there together. I'm filling my freezer with seafood too of the apples are gone by then. There are places in South Bend with lots of good fish.

Edited to add:

This post brought to you by the letter "t'"

Relax !
The apples in this tree just for you, are just now ready, and all yours!!
But do not dilly dally!!!

DH and I have been together since birth, actually, he was here before myself.
Our parents were best friends even in grade school.
We grew up together.
We spent every holiday together.
When my Dad went to Germany in the AF............DH's Dad was there evert day (we lived close by) to watch over my Mom & us kids.
DH and I dated through Jr High up til we got driver's licenses'..then we moved from the San Bruno neighborhood, to San Jose, to a brand new tract home

And Grandma's big ranch in Salinas sold........and suddenly I was without DH and had to board my horses.
Then hormones kicked in, and whoever was there was the one to love....
And I fell for a guy close by me (mistake #1) and DH fell for a girl close by him (back in San Bruno at Cappucino High School)
Then we marries our loves.
And divorced, and got back together 10 years ago.............so I can kinda say we been together 58 years!!!!!

I love him so!
Loved this man when he was still a boy.
Climbed trees together, surf fished Half Moon Bay for Stripers in the 60s, fished for Leopard Sharks off the old San Mateo Bridge (all night!) in the 70s.........hunted upland game all over the Valley, at Gray Lodge .........walked miles together with our pointers for pheasant & dove & quail.
Being reunited with a man who shares all my hobbies & dreams, is a blessing!
We are 2 peas..........
My blood brother, calls DH & my partnership "incesstive"

There is no old home movies or photos without him & our families together.

You have really got to look into Icelandics!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are so gorgeous!
Each is crested or has a long "hair do" like Einstein, and the colors are awesome, partridge, mottled & blues, grays, chocolates.
OMG I cannot believe them myself..and every day I look into their pen they get more beautiful!

Well, I have sold over 20 started birds to a tiny Cambodian woman out here, named Pan (pronouced pen)
She is older than I, about 80 pounds max, and about 4 foot tall.
She works at the Oyster processer 5 days a week, and is one busy gal on the week ends.
The original 10 birds I sold her (all sq Ameraucanas) were killed by a racoon.
Apparently she did not have a good pen.
This was last spring.
So she came back a month ago & asked for 10 more for egg.
I said OK but she wanted started birds, not chicks.
Anyways, I hatched her 12 Cuckoo Marans, and also gave her 4 assorted roosters for meat, for $80
Raising birds is expensive!!
Purina Flock Raiser last Feb was $12 a bag.
Now it is $18.99
So, anyways, Pan understanded why I charge $8 a bird for her only.
So off she goes last week.
Today she showed back up in her Nissan pickup full of baskets & clothing..and jumps out with 2 gallons of Huckleberries for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Washed, no stems or leaves!!!!!!!!!
She explained in broken English that she spent 4 hrs to drive & was 2 days pick the berries and I can make pie.
This is what the woman did on her week end off, is go to Idaho and pick Huckleberries.
It is amazing how awesome and strong these immigrants are, and makes you wonder all the more about the "lazy user freindly" Americans we have here.
You know the ones, who "expect" everything to be before them when they walk into a store.
The ones who think all food comes from a grocery store.
Anyways, I am so excited she brought me 2 gallons of Huckelberries, what is that nowadays...$37 a gallon ?
I gave her 2 of my recently butchered crosses, and she was also very excited.
She then asked if I like the oyster, YES!!!!!!!!!!
So I will not be surprised next time she pulls in my driveway with a bucket of oysters!
Life is good, bartering is good, we all get along & help each other!
OK bye! I gotta go close coops & feed the DH~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
