but then on the other hand why should she buy the o never mind !

Ha Ha. True. But I'm sure you remember she shared some very good reasons as I recall a while back.

I had my first predator last night!!! A dog from a few blocks away tried to get in my backyard and my DH chased it away. That dog was barking and pouncing on the gate to try and get in.I let my chickens and ducks free range in my backyard so I leave the coop/duck pen open so they can come and go as they please. They will be locked in the coop from now on at night thats for sure!

OK I am gonna leak the news !!! Just got a text from CL's dh. Said he said she got her buck. I asked if "since she took care of his if he was going to take care of hers it is the right thing to do ya know."

Check at places like Home Depot etc. They have devices that you can plug in and then plug heat tape, heat lamp etc into. When temp drops to 35 they come on and then when it warms to a point I dont know it goes off. or like I do I just set things on timers (cause I have lots of timers).

Timers are great. I have one for my layer coop. I can set 2 different times with it. It comes on and adds a few hours of light in the AM, is off all day then comes on in the pm for a while. Found this one on clearance at Home Depot.

I had a timer for the string of white LED Christmas lights I used to light the walkway from the driveway to the front door before I got the little stick-in-the-ground solar lights. It eventually died in the middle of last winter, but about 90% of my outside electrics did the same. The photoswitch ones are usually around $20 at Target; I hear they are available at HD but tend to be stocked in the scary "seasonal merchandise" area where I do not dare to tread for fear of the deadly Impulse Item.

Yes while a PES would work. A PES would also turn the heat lamp on at dusk year round no matter the temp. Using a PES you also need to locate it so there is enough light change to activate it and shield it from the light it will control.

Morning all! Just wanted to say hi, since I mostly just lurk. Oh! And I feel very accomplished. I was able to edit and change my last avatar to make it pink! Lol!

At Del's in Auburn. How would I know if it is the right stuff? I just went out and looked at it and it says Perma-Guard Fossil Shell Flour. Also says Food something something Grade (I should have taken a pen and paper, lol), so I guess it is the right stuff? It is a 50 lb bag that is brown like a grocery bag. I haven't used much of it for fear that it was the wrong thing.

Yep you got the right kind. The Del's in Enumclaw and also in Buckley don't carry DE. Maybe they have gotten enough requests to start.

When I requested a 50 lb. bag at the Del's in Puyallup this summer they were going to order some because they had been caught off guard by all the requests. Apparently they weren't stocking it regularly but were considering keeping some in stock.

Someone, I think one of the WA BYC'ers posted a response to that question the other day which is not quite appropriate for this thread. Had to do with buying the whole pig when all you wanted was... I'm sorry that's all I can say.

Poor baby. I loved the photos you posted of her yesterday. Brought back the sad memory of when Lily was getting her shots at 2 months. She had been smiling, talking, and interacting with the nurse who said, "Oh no, I'm going to feel really bad in a minute." She gave Lily the shot and without taking her eyes off of the nurses, Lily's little face just crumpled with an expression of shock and betrayal as she began to cry. Broke my heart - I think the nurse and I both cried along with her.

Hope Audrey is feeling better soon.
