Last year here in Kansas our temp was well below 0* (I think -8*). In my 12x16 uninsulated barn with 20 LF birds it was 15* warmer in there, I never used any heater or lights to heat the place up.
To keep your water from freezing use nipples on a bucket with a stock tank heater

I have used Paint Shop Pro for over 10 years and feel it is much easier to use than Adobe photoshop but like Illia said Gimp is free.

The software that came with our Lexmark printer is soooooooooooo awesome!
We can do anything to photos, change color, saturation, correct photos & "clean them up" or "paint" on them.
I have added moles, warts & changed skin color (Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!)

Maybe you have the same on your printer?
The Lexmark has a scan/copy page where you can upload, or scan & edit, crop & save or whatever you like!
I have a blast screwing around with it !
You can send me a photo e-mail & tell me what you want done to it...

This sounds like a good idea. Do the chickens need to be trained or do they figure it out on their own???

Well, my conductivity is still a little slow.
It is comcast.
I HATE comcast.
We had to even put a signal booster on our cable, cuz it seems we are the last one on a very long "spur" cable that hits 3 other homes first.
Those homes are vacant now, so I do not understand why we are slow except that it all started when the rain started..so maybe have a connection that is damp.
We have spybot & Norton & the computer is clean, degragged & the disc all clean.
It is just comcast.
I agree, BYC was slow last night too.
between the two, I made posts & never did see if any went through.
Gonna go shopping today, then clean the Icees coop...take out extra large nest boxes that were added for the Lemon Blue Cochins..so the Icees have more room.
Later, when it clears up, IF it clears up, we will get back on building the pump house.
In the mean time, there is a model 94 .30-.30 calling my name at Cabela's..and I may go put it on layaway for my Christmas present.

I also heard tell that Cougar Gold is sold on a web site..so gotta check that out.
It would make sense, and that they ship!

Me thinks that when my DH did the killawatt on my 2 incubators (and said they used $60 worth of power a month) he was greatly exaggerating....cuz our entire power bill is a whopping $27-40. a month.
He exaggerates my feed bills too...and he also grabs the egg money

Our birds keep the coops really warm, too.
And I purposely leave windows cracked or the humidity is so high that condensation forms..and them they can get sick.
Birds need fresh air.

I was really wondering about the electric. I am pretty sure that your bators are not drawing 250 continous watts. And I know that with my high electric cost a 250 IR lamp costs right at $25 a month.
