Thank you. Yes, DS is doing good with it. He knows everything I know. We have been very up front and honest with him from the beginning. He knows that we almost lost him for good, and that we are lucky to have him with us still, and that it's going to be a long road to recovery. DH has been having a hard time, after we almost lost his gpa last year, and now his dad. The annual family elk hunting trip has always meant a lot to him, they've all been making that trip together for 18 years, and he is having as hard a time with the trip possibly never happening again as he is with everything else. The area they go to means a lot to him, and I know it sounds odd, but I think he is grieving for that nearly as much as anything else. We took "one last drive" around the area Thursday evening, and he saw one elk...it was almost like a sign...it was really something to see the change in him just seeing that one animal...

I just spoke with DH a few minutes ago. FIL had a really good night, and made it through surgery #1 a whole lot better than the drs expected. The facial surgeon said that he thinks he can get everything else done with just one more surgery. That's a WHOLE lot better than 2-4 more surgeries!!! Whew! The prayers are working!!! Keep 'em coming!!!

CL: I am so sorry for your family, but thankful the prayers are working! I know how stressful these traumatic events are on everyone. I don't know how old your son is, but when my husband had a very gory ATV accident that our children witnessed, and had to be airlifted to Harborview, the kids had nighmares and were pretty upset for quite a while. My son was 10 at the time and wanted to sleep with me while dh was in the hospital, and really didn't believe his dad was alive and still had his leg 'til he came home a week later. None of us could watch hospital trauma type shows for months.

We will be praying for your FIL and for peace for your whole family. God Bless.

We just got home from the hospital, this is the first time I had laid eyes on FIL since I first saw him on the stretcher going into the ambulance. Wow. The doctors are amazing. He made it through his first surgery this morning with flying colors. So well in fact, the doctor has the second surgery scheduled for tomorrow morning, and he thinks he can get everything done with this one last surgery (though he expects it to take 6-8 hours). DH and I discussed it with the nurse, and decided it would be best if DS didn't see him until he's awake, it's just going to be too scary for him. He didn't see him after the accident, we kept him away, and while we have told him everything, seeing is far different than just hearing it. We told FIL that DS was there though and wanted to see him, but that we would wait a bit until he was "feeling better".

Gorgeous!

I think they turned out pretty well. I got better as I went along, and saw what looked more or less effective.
