If you are asking me. We have been doing this now for nearly 16 years. It wasn't fun having him in Hawaii for 2 weeks, and I am stuck here in the cold. I am finding that the cold makes everything hurt more. The problem with him being gone this week was, that today is our 29th wedding anniversary. He did send me 100 virtual roses, and a card that he wrote himself. So I sent him back a virtual red 2012 Dodge Charger. He got a kick out of it. I am not sure how we manage, but we talk frequently on the phone, and we trust each other. I have had a few tough times while being on my own. It wasn't fun to call 911 because I was so sick, and there wasn't any family available. I spent 2 days in the hospital the time. But I have survived all of this. It is easier to be on my own. If I don't feel good, then I really don't have to do anything when I am on my own. I often feel pushed when DH is here. Some of that is good, but it is still hard to manage. Anyway the traveling DH thing is simply the way things are for us. It's a very good job, and DH is very good at what he does.

I did have 4 Silkie chicks hatch today, that made up for being here on my own.

why do people assume I would be willing to sell the roosters on craigslist for $5 each?
I'll eat them myself thank you very much!
I'm not even asking for much on craigslit either... $10 for the young mix and $15 each for the black boys.....
BUT no way in heck I'm gonna sell a full grown chicken for $5!

Sorry had to rant....
Now does anyone here want one of the roosters??? I'll be butchering em tomorrow (Monday) if not.
The young white one can hang for another month or til crowing to gain weight for butchering... But Fabio and the Black boys have got to go!

Oh, yeah!

I have about two pounds of this pepper http://rareseeds.com/red-cheese-pepper.html in my freezer right now- thick walled, juicy (stains the cutting board red) flavorful without being at all hot, and the greatest thing ever for stuff like Creole Chicken.

I don't like sweet corn for eating, and my feelings are anything under two acres is a waste of space, because the best thing about sweet corn is to pick it into feed sacks and sell it with the dew still on and make money fast. It's sort of contrary to my theory of raspberries, which says you want exactly enough plants of successive-fruiting varities that you can pick as many as you want to eat every day and never waste any nor have to make jam (which I can't eat).

have you tried the Splenda Jams?
Great recipes now at Splenda.com
I have made many varieties with the splenda-pectin that is available now, for both my Dad & DH's Dad who both have diabetes.
I also made a huge mess of applebutter & used the tiniest dab of splenda to sweeten, as it is so cooked down it is already quite sweet.
I like to have the tartness in it also..like a mushed hunk of apple pie innards

Edited cuz my spelling was due to my brain going way faster than my fingers
lol.png

Is there an advantage to making a group order? I know that I will be ordering seeds this year, but I am leaning toward buying from Nichols Garden Nursery. Still if there is a good reason for sharing an order I would be willing to join.

well yes if you only want 20 seeds and the package has 60-100 seeds... then ya split the packet rather then 2 people buying 2 packets and only using 1/2 the seeds.... etc etc..

I had been keeping the people coop at 68, but I had gotten to the point where I was wearing my coat inside all day long. I am cold all the time. I finally raised the heat to 70. It does drop to 65 overnight. I have Anthuriums, and little birds in the house, and I worry that any colder and the birdies and plants will suffer. I really want a wood burning stove these days so that I can afford to have the room warm enough.

I know a guy that will turn the boys into capons. That gives them more time to get bigger. They won't crow, and they will stay tender, once they are capons. The guy is just south of the Rustler's place.

That makes sense. I will have to look into to this. I do know that my fantasy list was a bit different, and I may simply not have enough room here for everything that I want.

Well I am caught up again. I am going to have to fix up the brooder. The Silkies are begging to get out of the bator.
