CR, so, nice chickens we got from Mia! I'm glad we could help her out and give them a home. Thanks Mia - and thanks T Hi fro bringing them. You took out almost a whole day to help.

I'm so sorry she couldn't get it worked out with her neighbour tho. But, if things change, she can always have them back from me, or, she can baby chicks!

So, I moved my 10 week old lavendar orps outside into a "fast" built coop made of some old hay bales. I have no where else that I can put them that they would be out of the weather. I am able to keep the hay coop up around 40 degrees through a cold night.

Well the 2 cockerels (not either pullet) are breathing a bit heavy. I am thinking because of the hay. I see no snot or nasal discharge. Also, I switched their start n grow to a higher protein grow for game birds. I don't think they like it and I don't think they have been eating real well. I started them on some antibiotics. the little turds will not come out of the hay coop into the run I made....I am sure the fresh air would do them well. I just don't have anywhere at this time to put them. I am now going out and have made some "special dishes" for them to make sure that they are eating and they are improving. This is only a temporary situation until I can build them something better in the run area where they are suppose to go. But right now they need to be somewhere warm.

I just need to pray for some warm weather so I can throw them into the clean air.

CL: Any ideas or words of wisdom?

and if you can get your MD or PT to PRESCRIBE it .....

actually I used to go to the playground and hang by my knees from the trapeze bar, and if the back really got bad, I found that doing a bit of walking on crutches -- the RIGHT way, which is keeping all the weight on your hands, none on your armpits -- would "pull" my back out straight so the pain was lessened

yes, chicken keeping seems to require a lot of bending, stooping, lifting, and swiveling -- gives your back quite a workout

the lyrics from "Do the Hucklebuck" keep running through my mind ...

"start a little movement in your sacroiliac .. wiggle like a snake, waddle like a duck .... "

Julie, I say definently still go and get the MRI done. But if nothing comes of it, do your research and find a good chiropractor and give it a shot at least. I started seeing one in early December for back pain that just kept getting worse, and I'm feeling a LOT better. I also have a weird hip pain in my right hip, and I am hoping this helps. When you first go to the Chiropractor, they don't just start popping and cracking you. First they do an evaluation which includes full xrays of the spine, they measure how far you can bend in a bunch of different directions and they will show you how "off" your shoulders and or hips are from one another. My xray showed my pelvis was off as well as my neck. Both were twisted in opposite directions, therefor my middle back was in pain because it was literally being twisted! Give it a try if you can. But be sure to find a good one!!! Ask around for referrals/recommendations from everyone you know. And good luck!!!

IMO simple answer YES PUSH FOR MRI. Things shouldn't just go bump in the night without cause. You need to find out the cause and possible solution.

Well, you know what it's like to have a back issue!! One day you think your fine the next, your laid out!!! Or in my case gimping along!! 27 yrs of a back issue has to have some impact on the rest of you body, especially if your right sided??

try 50+ years of affect, 40+ years of chronic low grade pain which can spike to %^&*(!!; and several episodes of a family member who TRIED to break my back in a rage, knowing I had a vulnerability there

I wonder if the hay is getting mildewey from all the rain....

It is covered with a tarp...but it is old hay. It is dry, but probably musty. Been dry here. I am thinking, kick the orps out, crawl in and wrap the inside with clear plastic. That way they stay warm, I can still use the temporary coop and they are outside and hopefully get better.

Is the front all open then?
