yes one of the theories is that we have eliminated all of the natural parasites from out bodies, they have done clinical trials with the worm thing, it looks promising but not enough people gain remission if you ask me. there is no cure, it will always be there. I considered it, but nope, not swallowing any worms that I am aware of. Ginger has also shown in trials to reduce and block inflammation but again, does not gain remission or cure. cedars sinai has done some complete bone marrow transplants for those with big bucks, essentially replacing the immune system and so far no recurrence on the successful transplant. it takes months and millions to accomplish that one.

But aren't hookworms a bad parasite in that is has very uncomfortable symptoms, etc? Not going to say the words.

actually I think the studies were done with pig whipworms and not hooks, humans are dead end hosts for whipworms. it might be hooks, I have the studies bookmarked on my other pc which died. whichever it was they used the pig versions as they will die within the human body but do their job before dying.

CL this is what I was trying to say, the story is on a crohns forum somewhere and I gotta look for it again, but this is what they replaced

The main job of bone marrow is to produce blood cells, both red and white (leukocytes and lymphocytes). It is the soft tissue located in the cavities of the bones. It is the source of stem cells which differentiate (change into) leukocytes and lymphocytes.

To sum up things so far: the bone marrow creates the stem cells which become the cells of the immune system. From the bone marrow lymphocytes are sent to the thymus gland to mature and are then stored in the secondary organs of the lymph system and in the blood stream. The bone marrow also sends leukocytes into the blood stream on sentry duty. Everything stands in a "combat ready" state.

One thing that makes me mad is Dr's write prescriptions for Lipitor and other cholesterol lowering drugs like they are handing out candy. These drugs do lower cholesterol, however they have no clinically significant affect in reducing the number of heart attacks in the people who take these drugs! There is something else going on here! It is not simply the cholesterol number that causes the hear attack.

I'll stick to my oatmeal with Cinnamon. Oatmeal reduces cholesterol and cinnamon helps control blood sugar, and I am not poisoning myself!

I agree. A 100% natural diet with no additives. Lots of herbs and whole grains, gluten free if need be. Everything whole and pure and raw as much as possible. Plenty of fresh air and exercise. I know there are people who have no choice but to be on the drugs the doctors put them on but we really need to be advocates for our own health. There are so many people on so many drugs and they don't even question it. They feel more sick on the drugs than when they started taking them.

I have seen the book but not read it, wanted to order it, did you get it?

I gotta go cook so will be back later....

Elliot Coleman is the 'go to guru' for small farm growers. He is awesome. He's not just a farmer, he gets deep into these studies and gets everyone else working on them. Big time agricultural scientist and he's an inventor also. Invents lots of hand tools that go along with his methods that are huge time savers. Best part is his focus is on the small farm buy local movement, major figure and contributor, so yes I have the book. I have ALL his books. The first book of his I bought 20 years ago was 'The New Organic Grower". He's got a revised edition out now. I would recommend it and the Winter Harvest Handbook. Both are geared towards people growing on acreage but the info and methods are so useful for anyone, just scale it down.

I work in construction and we put in sewer lines, tying into live sewers...pretty gross subject!! haahaaa!!!

Oh, I am fearful of the stories. The DH is always telling me scary things. LOL. putting in pipes....that has to be just as scary at times.

I am really upset with what my mother is going through right now.

She has had 5 or 6 back surgeries in the past several years. Like me, she has antibiotic allergies, metal allergies, and she can't take opiate pain-killers because they drop our blood pressure dangerously low (so does anesthesia). She has had surgeries for slipped disks and such and then more to remove the metals pins and screws that they were sure she would not react to. She had her last sugery on her lower back a little over a year ago. They went in from both front and back sides to align her spine, and then she had to wear a bone-growth stimulator for a couple of months. The entire time since the surgery she has bee complaining of severe abdominal pain that has now gotten so bad she can't stand up straight, and she always feels exhausted and sick. She won't take any pain meds because she is afraid of the reaction and she wants the problem solved, not hidden. She had 5 MRI's since the surgery, initially to check bone growth. 6 months ago they noticed a spot that looked to be an abcess and said she may have an infection near the surgery site so they sent her to a specialist who told her that can't be the case because after 6 months she would be sicker. She can't take antibiotics so they sent her home and pretty much treat her like a nag who constantly complains. Truth is, my brother, sister, and I all treated her this way because she is someone who always has a million things to complain about and rarely has a good thig to say.

My brother and sister visited mom for Christmas. They both called me alarmed by her rapid decline since they had last seen her at Thanksgiving. Thurday she had another MRI done, she was not told the results, but the results were sent to her insurance claims adjustor who immediately called for a top doctor to go to Santa Cruz where she lives to meet with her. Her care is being transferred. The doctor was evasive about what was going on, but he was very concerned that she needs more procedures done right away, and was shocked that she can still move around at all. He was shocked that she could have had such a bad surgery for someone who is supposed to be a top expert in the field (He knew and respected her surgeon, however the surgery was likely done by a resident, and not him). Mom called the insurance adjustor after the doctor visit and demanded to know what was going on. What she found out is a shocker; the surgeon last year left multiple surgical clamps inside her and she has a large abcess around one of them. Why did nobody catch this in the 5 previous MRI's? Were they hoping she would just grow used to the pain so they would not have to fess up to their errors? The surgery was done at UCSF. The experience was a disaster for other reasons as well. After a week at UCSF, they put her in an ambulance to take her to a hospital in Santa Cruz where she lives. Nobody sat in the back with her, and they did not lock the gurney wheels, so the thing was sliding all over the place going up and down the San Francisco hills. One particularly steep hill, the gurney slammed hard into the back doors and mom was partially ejected from the bed. The driver and the medic who was in the cab and not in the back with mom as he should have been heard it and realized what was going on. They did NOT open the back to check on her, instead, they stopped the ambulance in this busy intersection where this occured, and then called 911! It was the Fire Department who responded, opened the back and got mom and the bed all properly strapped in again.

I realize that mom will need yet another surgery to remove the clamps, but with her luck, I am afraid of what will happen, and I am at a loss as to what I can do to help her other than call and fly down there to help her out.

My DH is one of them - you should see his side of the bathroom - it looks like a pharmacy. I seldom take anything, even asprin and cold meds. I don't do the flu shot either.
