Popovers. Same concept, but popovers are airier, and have less fat.

According to Ogden Nash:

YORKSHIRE PUDDING
Let us call Yorkshire pudding
A fortunate blunder;
It’s a sort of popover
That tripped and popped under.

Love Ogden Nash. And your popovers are beautiful - thanks very much for sharing the recipe!

Hi All;

Wow, you sure made a lot of posts today!

I'm not sure how I feel about being employed. I decided to do taxes so that I could work locally and pretty much be hmoe when my kids are home, but they have me scheduled 40 hours per week, and working 6 days a week! The only day I don't work is Sunday. This sure makes Chicken Coop maintenance a pain in the butt! How often do you all scrape your poop boards? Is it better to chase the birds from their roosts for cleaning in the mornings or the evenings? Do I scrape the poop off the poop boards early in the mornings now and just make the chickens get off their roosts as it is just starting to get light so I still have time to shower and get ready for work, and get the kids off to school, or do I bump them off when I get home when it is dark? Why does it have to get dark so early?

I had asked to work 20-30 hours per week, and no more than 5 days per week, but I did say I would work more hours during peaks, and the scedule is already getting loaded up. I don't really want to complain about the amount of hours though, because this will help me pay off our cards.

I don't know why, but often when it freezes overnight, I wake up with a migraine in the mornings. I had my worst one in over a decade this morning. Every time I turned my head the pain would increase so much that I'd start wretching, dry heaves. I went in late today because I felt so terrible, but I eventually found my medication and my headache cleared enough to work. Good to see the 8 year old expired medication was still effective.

I did not work yesterday (I assumed I had the day off as I had requested, ooops!). I did spend 6 hours ripping out blackberry bushes. You should see my back lawn! I think we will have a bonfire as soon as I get the chance. The chickens are very happy; they are running through the pulled-up shrubs and eating all the freeze-dried berries from the vines. As I was grubbing out the roots, they were all flocked around me, grabbing up all the earthworms! I also pulled up a lot of Lady's Mantle. I so wish I had never planted that invasive plant! I was lulled by the large chartreuse leaves and the way that raindrops bead up on them like silver gems. I figure I pulled up 99% of them, but that still leaves several hundred to be ripped out in the spring when they pop up. They send roots out everywhere, and the roots send up new plants along their lengths.

I also whacked back my grape vines and Wysteria to get them out of the evergreens. I want to get rid of the Wysteria and replace it with roses and clematis.

I feel ill again, I think maybe because I am looking around and seeing just how terribly messy my house is becoming.

I'll save them and get you more - the honey is very yummy, and I forbade the kids from touching it, or it'd be looong gone! I put it on toasted English muffins.

That's dead looking even by newly hatched chick standards.

X2 - Gave me a start. I was convinced it was a dead chick photo - thought CLs chicks had died till I read otherwise and saw the good news

it's called a vasovagal response ... the vagus nerve stimulates the brain to dilate the blood vessels, so the blood pressure falls and semi- or unconsciousness results; DH has had it happen too

wish it were consciously controllable; I have a needle phobia and it would be much easier for all concerned if I were out of it before the needle approached; oddly it is all ok once the needle is IN ...

I have something related happen - my veins dive. I won't let them numb me with a small injection before putting in an I.V., because if they do, they will never be able to find the vein and I'll end up with a dozen sticks! DD has the same response, and she has had it since birth. They needed to put in an I.V. and I told them not to do the small prick first. The nurses told me that it is a psychological response, so they did the small prick and could not get the IV in then a second nurse took over, said basically the same thing and when it happened again she said "Wow, I heard of this in nursing school, but I have never seen it happen like this!" They ended up putting the I.V. inter her foot. When she was 3, she broke her arm and we went through the whole thing again, and another I.V. in the foot.

I can do that too; but I had the blueberry variety this morning as they are on sale at QFC. The other varieties were not marked down.

Yesterday I made soup from one of my winter squash, and stuffing with pumpkin sausage and a very stale loaf of french bread that had been sitting on my counter for 2 weeks. Recipe said to slice and bake in the oven until crispy. I skipped that step - slammed the loaf down on the counter and it shattered into hundreds of pieces, no oven and no knife needed. I drizzled honey on it when it was done.

Nooooo the fresh FRANZ muffins are for sausage egg muffins or apple butter the honey is best for fresh warm cornbread made in the CI skillet. lol
