I have power, and about 7 1/2 inches of the white stuff, and its still coming down.

Roads out here werent bad this morning, but are MUCH worse now. Took me an our to drive 12 miles, I got lucky and made it home safe. Granted I put my an into an embankment about 1/4 mile from my barn. But horses are a fed, and I no onger have to go ANYWHERE! Im done thats it, no more for me thanks!

My horses here at home are covered in icecycles, poor things, but they all have cover, food and water. So all is well here. Im very gad that I have rigid wire on top of my run. I havnt had any issue with snow pulling down my run cover.

We had about 6 inches last night and today here on top of the four or five from the day before. Then it started that stupid misting rain. It's been freezing on everything. There is a nasty crust on the snow, and the wire on the run is three times it's normal size. The netting that is still up is like moving a very heavy beaded curtain.

The chickens wouldn't come out of the coop this morning except for one brave brahma. I don't know how she walked out in it as far as she did. Must have involved flying. I had to put down hay on the snow in front of the coop and to the big shelter with the deep bedding. Then they were willing to walk on that to get over there. They've been playing in the shelter all day. I tossed scratch to keep them from being bored, too. It stays pretty nice in there. I'll go in and sit on a hay bale and they come talk to me about their day. It's just been complaints about the snow and rain and that they can't get to the grass right now and have to eat the alfalfa leaves.

I take out warm water, but some of those silly birds prefer eating the snow. I absolutely hate the heated chicken waterer. I'd rather haul warm water a few times a day.

I guess I am "officially" a chicken farmer. See I went out to put the last of the gas in the generator. So I decided to do final egg check. Silly me I put the eggs in my pocket Yup you almost guessed it! I broke the eggs in my pocket. Not one not two .....yup all 3 Nice so now my chore has broken eggs inthe pocket

and no way to do laundry until the power comes back.

Speaking of which, B of A has messed with DH for weeks trying to find all sorts of new fees.
So he closed the account & took out all the CDs & put them in a Credit Union.
Then Wells Fargo charged a fee, and he went ballistic !
Seems WF is charging a fee if you do not have at least $7500 in your combined checking/savings OR linked to your mortgage !!
So he closed that account too.
During all this time, B of A has not messed with little ol'me and my meniscul account balances.
I have auto deposit so there was no fees.
Wrong!
They nailed me for a $5 fee last mo (unnannounced !) becuase they have adopted a new plan that says you must have at least $300 in your savings, or have an auto withdrawal of at least $25 taken from checking to savings monthly.
So we will go first chance & close that account too.
Greedy bast##ds !

And THIS is why I don't watch the news!!! Good for G!! Credit Unions are really a good deal, I've had one for a long time, I don't know if you have Banner Bank there, probably not it's a Walla Walla bank, but it is pretty good too! No hidden fees, and haven't been hitting us with anything either. OH ok, here is another one, USAA CL you said your dad was in the Air Force?? Because you are a child of a veteran you can get a account with them! THEY ARE AWESOME!! We have all our insurance with them and bank accounts, they are very respectful and really take the time to help people, especially veterans. I think tho, your dad may have to sign up, not sure exactly how that works, but, my daughter saved a ton of money on her car insurance because we were members. And she's not 25 yet!!! USAA is for active duty and veterans and their spouses and children. So if you are a veteran or child of a vet, check it out!! I can't say enough good things about them!!!

With all the snow on my green house, and now rain, I am a bit concerned but think it will hold OK.
Making a big pot of chicken & dumplings...what else ya gonna do ?

School Buses are following the plows here...amazing !

Lucky them, when I was a sub one year the plows followed me. I wasnt very happy..

DH just came in and gave me my first egg from the Silkie hen I got last sat. its as cold as ice. Poor little girl.

We have so much snow, went to take pictures and the camera is dead, so now I'm looking for batteries.

Our power came back. The computer is on a battery backup and theoretically should last 2+ hours. I'd rather save that for the phone in emergencies.

The ice is getting close to a quarter inch thick outside and it was still drizzling heavy and freezing when I checked the birds half an hour ago. The netting is a solid roof now that doesn't move. All the birds are safely in their coop. Last one in was the brahmas. I swear those birds like the snow. It's a small coop so they keep it warm with body heat. There are roosts in the shelter if they wanted to sleep in there, but they like snuggling each other. None of them will go in the little dog coop anymore, even though they all have lived in there at one point. Had to move in to the bigger coop.

I hope everyone is doing ok and makes it through the night without any bad omens from the weather.
