Coturnix are here!
It was a disappointing hatch, my buttons were 75% on shipped eggs, these guys, only about 50
I think I killed them. I had 22 pop out overnight, and I had to get them out because apparently their yolk doesn't last as long. Many of the quail people on here say don't leave them in there longer than 24 hours. Unfortunately, 24 hours would have been smack in the middle of my workday, so I had to do it before then.
Do you know how long it takes to catch 22 babies the size of your thumb???? We had 3 more hatch shortly thereafter, and one zipped but then quit, but I think it had quit before I ever took the others out in the first place. but no more. Sad times. I chucked the eggs tonight before trash night. Luckily, many felt very light, so I think that maybe there were more clears that I didn't pick up when I candled. They're kind of hard to see through.
Waiting till tomorrow to see if I get another turkey egg, then setting those tomorrow night. I'll add 4 EEs in a week, so the idiots have help finding food. Sure am
that these eggs are good. I'm going to try to sell whatever eggs she lays the rest of the week, but don't want to hold these much longer as the first one is closing in on 8 days old now.
Seriously need a second 'bator....
