Is that a Cuckoo Marans? I thought all Marans had feathered legs (in this country anyway). Mine does. Or is it colour specific? Mine is a Blue Copper.

Don't know if anyone answered you yet but...There are 2 types of Marans.
The originated in Marans, France and had feathered shanks & often toes.
The English

In all their great wisdom, outbred the feathered shanks & toes to get a clean legged bird, I presume due to their wet & muddy weather ?
Anyway, so what we have now is the French marans, and the English (clean legged) Marans.
There is 2 Marans Clubs, each dedicated to either English or French Strains.
This boy is English, mine are french.

Not with peanuts, no. To sunflower seeds/stems/leaves, yes. I suspect the brand of "peanut butter" I've been eating has been adulterated with sunflower butter or rather the second pressing of sunflower oil, which is high in sunflower protien. That also happened the last time there was a peanut shortage. I'm not into messing around to find out, though. I may see if I can get an allergist appointment later this year.

I have no issue with peanuts or tee nuts...or any sunflower seeds, but got deathly ill within minutes months ago from eating peanuts we found that were anointed with soybean oil....I cannot handle soybean oil nor soy protein.

My French Cuckoo Marans
There are 2 or so young pullets that are bare legged.
Those will be sold.
The work is trying to get the entire flock to breed true french again.
I had 5 French hens, and no cock.
So bought English eggs, hatched & sired the cock you see here which got his feathered shanks from my old french hens, and their great temperments.
Sill hatch out an English from time to time as you see with the pullet next to him.
This is Anthony, the Beta Cock.

One really strange symptom I have, is within minutes of eating...I cannot breathe and have an asthma attack.
I use a rescue (Albuterol ) inhaler, and am fine after that.
Weird, huh ????
