Oh my goodness - that's gorgeous!

Need recipe!

I tried to make a Buche de Noel (Yule Log) for the holidays from a recipe my mom brought from Holland when she moved here. We had it every Christmas, but that is the only time she would make it as it takes 8 hours (not including the decorating) over 2-3 days to make the thing. There are 18 eggs in this cake (mostly just the whites) and almost no flour.

Mine did not look much like a log, so I called it a forest floor cake:

She used to make another cake that looks a lot like that ring you ahve there, but with almond paste in it. We used to pick the almonds, blanch them, and mix them with other stuff (mostly sugar I think) to mae a very yummy marzipan that we would put in it. I did not want to go through all that work, so I bought a giant can of Blue Diamond almond paste. Almond paste must be different than Marzipan. we interchanged the names all the time, but the stuff in my can is stiff, dry and flavorless. I decided not to make the cake when I took a taste of the paste.

Trying to load pics to see how long this connectivity is taking, yesterday failure was (a complete stop & unable to even send e-mail and could not log out or shut down any programs & had to shut the computer off.
Next morning I have to defrag all the programs that were fragmented to shutting down........

Oyster Hoister: out of Willapa Bay, FULL of oysters !

Ogress that cake reminds me of the recipe I have for Choux-Paste...which gives you "Puffs" which are easily stuffed with various pastes....for horse doo

We just finished dinner and I got very good reviews on this dinner again, Cajun Chicken Pasta. Second time I've made it, so thought I would share!

My 2nd BLRW, the one who was jumping all over still in his egg, has hatched. The two that have hatched, both have GINORMOUS feet, thinking they are both roo's. They are also very very dark, which I am thrilled about! Waiting until they dry off completely to take pics.

Thank you for the cajun chicken recipe!

Bad mommy, I have not made dinner yet, but I have all the ingredients here except for the heavy cream I do have 2% milk. That will have to do. I don't think my family will eat this as I am the only one who likes bell peppers, tomatoes and cooked onions. Too bad for them! Looks wonderful. More for me to package up for my lunches all week long. They can make themselves PBJ.
