Does any one know an easy way to tell a Barred Rock Pullet from a Barred Rock Cockerel? I was told I got shipped 10 MALE packing pellets.... BUT my husband thinks one or two of them are girls.... From what I read males are a lighter gray while females are darker almost black. Problem is they are almost the same color. So I dunno. A few of them have started turning read but most are still yellow... Anything I should look for? They are 4 weeks and 3 days old. Thanks Guys
That's a tough one!! Sometimes, you can see their combs are just a little more pronounced then the pullets. You may have to wait till they start crowing, chickens are posers you know!! LOL!!

This thread has a true sense of community, and camaraderie that I find quite rare in other places.

We share ideas, information, we look out for each other and have parties together. In times of trouble we try to help and in good times we celebrate.

and at the risk of a mod's ire, I like it that we come from all backgrounds, religions, political affiliations, AND IT DOESN'T MATTER, BECAUSE WE ARE "friends".

Yes and this is under "social" on the forum pages and I went back and read the rules on what is expected, all they do not really want talk of politics and religion because they know it can lead to arguments ect, they just do not wanting "flaming" ect. I also read some information on "internet trolls", it was very interesting and because I have never been on a forum before, and had only heard of the word it was good reading, you guys should check it out! I do agree with the above statement and sometimes we just need to "agree" to disagree"! Right?
Luv you guys!!!

See how the spring ran to the coop door & mud was everywhere ! I have to dig it out, and now there is a "moat" the chickens have to jump over when they come out the door.

JUMP !

Duckles having a blast !!!!!!!!

This water is running FAST !!!!!!!! And drowning worms are everywhere ! Chickens are having a great day eating them all.

Jeez CL!! Good for ducks! Bad for people and chickens! So sorry!!

Guns aren't always the easiest things to figure out! especially for a kid?? That poor baby!!! And your right! it is the scarest!! Maybe elementary schools aren't taking the precautions the highschools are? But, still who would have thought a 9 yr old would bring a gun to school? The question is WHY?? What anger/ beef did he have??
Sorry for my ignorance, I don't watch the news, and now you know why! I can't change what happens and all it does is make me sad or angry! So I just don't, but I would like to know why he would do that and if the little girl is ok!! Heart goes out to all the parents!!

I feel really bad for the 9 yr old boy. From what I've been hearing on KIRO news radio, it sounds like he has had a terrible home life. Both parents lost custody, so he went to live with his grandma. Then his grandma died so he was sent to his uncles house. He apparently got the gun from his dad's house on one of his visits. He put it in his backpack and took it to school because he was planning on running away. When he dropped his backpack on the desk, the gun fired.
